Mr. Jack Sharps spent the past weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jones, Duindonald. Hon. Thos. Murphy of Ottawa spent the past weekend ait the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A.Murphy. Mr. Howard Drinkwalter has turned to Toronto, after spending the past two weeks with his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Drink-waiter. Sunday School and Church service wad held as usual last Sunday at Sharon Church. There will be no Gburch next Sunday, it being one of the usual "spares." :Mr. George Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Plumipton and daughters, Irene and Margaret, of Warkworth, Visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Wlaite this past week. Mr. and Mrs. Royden Brown of Hilton spent Sunday at the home of her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hoare. iMr. and Mrs. Hoare, who have both been quite ill, are improving in health at present. Mrs. Claude McDonald (nee Miss Vera Munphy) is at present visiting her mother, Mrs. George Murphy, of Little Lake. Several young people from here attended the shower held at the home of IMr. and Mrs. Harry McDonald, East Colborne, on Wednesday evening last, in honour of their son and his wife, Mir. and Mrs. Claude McDonald. The young couple received many useful and beautiful gifts as tokens of the esteem in which they are held. LAKEPORT March 26th, 1935 Mrs. Fred Bryant visited her mother in Casteton recently. ,Mr. Charles Nichol of Toronto is visiting at his home here. Mir. Ralph Smith of Fenella visited his sister, Mrs. J. Cowey last week. Mrs. M. Kernaghan is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Lawless, in Grafton. A dance was held in the school house on Friday evening, March 22nd. Mr. and Mrs. H. Dunk and family of Salem visited friends here on Sunday. Mrs. Quigley and son of Castleton visited Mr. and Mrs. Ben Moore, on Sunday. Miss Marion Irvine has returned hoime, after spending several weeks in Toronto. Mr. and M:rs. D. Winter of Port Hope visited Mr. and Mrs. W. G| Irvine c ■ Sunday. family of Cobourg visited their parents here on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Johnston of Grafton visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Clarke, on Tuesday. Capt. and Mrs. Earl MciMurray and Miss Kathleen Kirk of Port Dalhousie spent a few days with friends here. Mr. and Mrs. J. Redhead and family have returned to their home in Agincourt, after visiting friends here. We are sorry to report Mrs. J. Cuthbert on the sick list. Her many friends wish her'a speedy recovery. The Sunday evening service of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church was conducted 'by Rev. Mr. Graham of Tor- Mr. and Mrs. Andy Crawford and family of Toronto spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mirs, W. G. Irvine. Capt. George Kirk of Hamilton has returned to his home, after spending several days with his mother, Mrs. J. Kirk. Mr. and Mrs. P. Deputy Reeve Gordon Honey attended the" Grand Orange Lodge at Trenton on Wednesday. ■■ Miss Thelma Chapman is spending a week at the home of her sister, Mrs. Orra Harnden, Colborne. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Mutton and Miss Mae Mutton visited Mr. and Mm Hubert Mutton, Shiloh, Sunday. Mrs. Keith Stimers and daughter Kathleen visited Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Stimers and Mrs. Walker on Wjednes-day. Mr. Blake Samons and mother Spent Tuesday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Samons, Pleasant View Farm. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chapman and son Douglas spent Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Herrington, Mrs. Chapman's parents, at Sharon. Mr. and Mrs. T. Samons, Mr. B. Samons and Miss Margaret Nelson of Wloklow were guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Graham on Sunday. A number from this neighbourhood attended the L. 0. L. and L. O. B. A. Grand Lodge of Eastern Ontario, at Trenton, on Wednesday afternoon and evening. 'Mrs. Osicar Dingman received the sad nessage on Saturday morning that her sister, Annie Towns, wife of Mr. Homer Grosjean, Smlthfleld, had sud- Mr. and Mrs, Garnet Coffey Jum'^ jfenly passed away. Beside her hus-band, Mrs. Grosjean leaves five young children, a mother, five sisters and three brothers, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. The funeral took place on Monday. Interment was in' Smithfield Cemetery. THE LATE MRS. ALICE BISBEE On Saturday morning, March 23rd, 1935, Mr. John F. Wfright received the sad message announcing the sudden death of his cousin, Mm Alice Bishee, at her home at Denfield, near St. Mary'a. Mrs. Bishee was a daughter of the late John Carr, who for many years owned and resided on the farm now owned by Mr. Lewis Mutton, Dun-donald, where Alice was born and spent several years of her childhood, before the removal of the family to Western Ontario. Mrs. Bistoee was an estimable Christian woman, highly esteemed, and her passing has caused widespread grief among a large circle of relatives and friends. Only a few months ago, accompany ed by friends, she motored from her home in Middlesex County, apparently in good health, and was the guest of Dundonald relatives; and her death came as a great surprise. Her husband predeceased her some years. One son, Wilfrid, Principal of Waterdown School, and one adopted son, also three sisters survive. The regular meeting of the Y.P.S. of ' St. Piul's Presbyterian Church was held in the Sunlday School hall on Monday evening, March 18th, 1935. The meeting was in charge of the Literary Convenor, Miss Madeline Kernaghan. The wedding of Missi Myrtle Denny of Lakeport and IMr. James Kelly of Castleton took place in Cobourg, Saturday, March 16th, 1935. We offer our oongratulatiioins to the happy young couple. A number of young people held charivari in honour of the newlyweds on Monday night. After weeks of intense suffering from a badly splintered--yes shattered leg--(a riding down hill accident) little Harold Haggerty is resting quite comlfortably in Belleville Hospital. Rev. Dr. Thomas of Toronto occupied the United pulpit here on Sunday morning, and addressed the young people of Frankford and Stock-dale Tabernacle, Carman and Smith-field Churches, here, Monday night. Refreshments after. On Friday, March 22nd, 1935, Mr. Asa Rogers passed away in his 92nd year. He was Pastor of the Friends Church here for a number of years.
