Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Dingman, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McDonald, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Goodrich attended the supper in connection with the Silver Anniversary of Morganston United Church. Dundonald folk, in common with many others, were alarmed at the unusual occurrences on Thursday, when loud rumbling noises were heard, houses swayed, doors opened by unseen hands, clocks stopped, chickens left their roosts and gathered closely together for safety at the kitchen door, while squirrels which had taken up winter residence in the attic ran madly to and fro. But some of our neighbours slept, peacefully unconscious of the strange antics of old Mother Earth. Best of all, no one was injured and no property damaged. On Thursday night about one hundred neighbours and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Graham to express regret of their removal from this vicinity, where they have resided nearly five years. After music and games a bountiful lunch was served. An address was read by Mrs. Honey, and a fern and fernery was presented to Mrs. Graham, and a smoking cabinet to Mr. Graham, while Clifford was remembered by the gift of a shaving set from the Y.PjL., of which he was first Vice-President. Mr. Graham thanked the friends on behalf of Mrs. Graham and himself, and Clifford also spoke briefly, thanking the Y.P.L. for their kind remembrance. Mr. and Mrs. Graham and Clifford are moving this week to their former home near Keene, but the two sons, Earl and Fred, are happily married and settled down in Dundonaid. A hilarious Hallowe'en party, composed of Dundonald and Shiloh Leagues, gathered together in Dundonald hall with an attendance of nearly one hundred, including many school children who came in various comic costumes to enjoy the fun. After the parade, to the tune of a lively march, prizes were presented to the following: Best male comic costume--Mr. John Wright (dressed as a woman). Best dressed man--Mr. Peter Rousay. Best dressed female couple--Misses Doris and Alma Mutton (as bride and groom). Best comic female couple^Mrs. J. Whitehouse and Mrs.. Grace Sampson (darkies). A sing-song conducted by Miss Doris Mutton was followed by an excellent program provided by the Shiloh League: Topic--Everet Allen Reading--Margaret Mutton Duet--Doris and Alma Mutton Chorus--Five boys Reading--Mrs. Hubert Mutton Duet--Mrs. J. Whitehouse and Mrs. Grace Sampson. A game was conducted by Margaret Mutton, after which an excellent lunch was served by Dundonald League. DUNDONALD Y.P.L. The Young Peoples League of Eden Church, Dundonald, met with a good attendance in the hall for their usual weekly meeting, Nov. 5th, 1935. The hymn, "Fight the Good Fight," opened the meeting, followed by the Lord's Prayer in unison. The scripture was Wicklow-Vernonville Women's Insttute The Wicklow-Vernonville Women's Institute held their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday afternoon. October 30th, 1935, at the home of Mrs. Wm. Hoskin jr. The President and Secretary were both present. After the Institute Ode and Lord's Prayer was repeated, the roll was called by the Secretary. Each member responded by telling what country she would like to visit and why. Quite a number desired to visit Florida until spring. Minutes were read and business transacted. The following expense sums were voted to be paid: Picnic expenses .............. $1.70 Nina Moore Jamieson's book.. 1.25 Delegate's expenses to Belleville Convention ............ 2.50 A number of appreciative letters were read from members who were remembered by the Sunshine Committee. A silver miniature cup for the pupil who wins third prize in the Township Public Speaking Contest was arranged for. The finals took place at Grafton on Tuesday, November 5th. Mrs. Clifford Gillespie, convener for the day, took the chair. An interesting program was enjoyed. Mrs. Alfred Larry, who recently had spent five months visiting in her homeland, Old England, gave a detailed account of her stay. Some of the most interesting things mentioned were Alder-shot Show, which was similar to Toronto Exhibition, Tank Corps, Ascot races, and Winchester Cathedral. Mrs. Larry then read letters from the President and Secretary, respectively, of "Cove" Branch Institute, England. These letters were of especial interest to the members. A reply to these letters will be sent. Little Mary Rutherford sang a solo very sweetly. An address, "A Stranger in Our Midst," was given by Mrs. C. Gillespie, which was indeed helpful. Mrs. W. Rutherford selected a reading from Nina Moore Jamieson's book, which proved quite humorous. A rug demonstration brought the program to a close. After a vote of thanks was tendered Mrs. Larry for her painstaking efforts, and to the hostess, Mrs. Hoskin. a sumptuous lunch was served. Thus the meeting was closed. given by Herbert Trottman, followed by a ifew words by the Rev. A. Armstrong. The hymn, "Glory to God, for His sunshine is free," was then sung. The meeting was then put in charge of Kenneth Mutton, leader of the Fellowship Group. Mrs. A. Bradley gave an excellent topic. Mr. John Wright favored with a solo, followed by a recitation by Howard Samis. After the game, conducted by Kenneth Mutton, Jim Peacock and Ivan Stickle favoured with some songs. The meeting closed with the hymn, "The Great Physician now is near," and the Miz-pah benediction. ADDRESS TO MR. W. L. DUNNETT Following is the address presented to Mr. W. L. Dunnett by Dundonald friends on the eve of his departure for Bowmanville, after many years residence at Dundonald: Dundonald, Oct. 25th, 1935 Dear Mr. Dunnett:-- We, your neighbours and friends, have assembled here to-night to express our regret that you are so soon to leave us. Over half a century since you settled among us, and the friendship of so many years is not easily forgotten. You have been industrious and prosperous, contented and happy here, and though deep sorrow has come to your home you have not become embittered, but have been enabled by Divine assistance to still continue to be interested in the worthwhile things of life. You have held many responsible offices in Eden United Church--A trustee for many-years, S. S. teacher, class leader (when we were Methodists), a member of the Parsonage Board, treasurer of Bible Society, a liberal supporter of every department of Church work, and always on the right side of every moral question. You have lived to see many changes in Dundonald, and nearly all your elderly friends have passed away. We shall miss you, Mr. Dunnett, but we are glad your are not journeying to a distant country, but among friends and relatives in a nearby town, where you may be reached in a couple of hours without exceeding the speed limit. We trust theie are years of enjoyment and usefulness in the future for you, and so as a token of our appreciation of you as a friend and neighbour, we ask you to accept this Hymnary, and as you join in the songs of Zion, remember Eden Church and Dundonald friends. In behalf of the neighbours, Mrs. W. E. Chesterfield, Mrs. M. C. Broomfield.
