Stock and implements cost $8,547 and $5,000 has been realised from the sale of livestock. There twenty employees at the school and the monthly salaries, including those of farm hands total $2,281. Edwards of Brighton dropped in on the "Go Get 'Em" class on Sunday afternoon and gave the members a helpful address. Mrs. Vance Pomeroy went to Toronto attend the funeral of her broth-, Jack Leach, who was accidentally drowned near Camp Borden. Talk about the changes brought about by moving. In one school section near here, fifteen more children will be added to the school roll be-use of incoming families. Mrs. Gerald Weiton took her baby to Toronto last week and had his noids removed. It was discovered also that something was wrong with one of his limbs, but the doctors believe It can be adjusted by home treatments. S. Newman accompanied his daughter and grandson. CASTLETON..............4.. At the United Church Parsonage, Castleton, on Thursday, March 17th, 1927, at 4 p.m., Miss Annie McMann of Morganston was united in marriage to Mr. Harold Doidge. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. E. Beckel, and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Turney of Warkworth were the witnesses. The happy couple left the same evening for their honeymoon, and on their return will reside on the farm near Morgans-ton. A special effort is being made to make the prayer meeting in this community a great success. Every Thursday night at 7.30. Ladies' Aid monthly meeting this Thursday afternoon, March 24th, beginning at 1.30. Every woman of community and congregation invited. Remember the Young People's League, Friday evening, at 7.30, in charge of our literary department. Also reserve Friday, April 1st for the social the League are having in the basement of the church. Sunday, March 27th, 1927, service in the United Church will be as follows: Sunday Schoool 10.30; "Go Get 'Em" Men's Class at 2.45; Preaching service at 7--The pastor's subject will be "Spiritual Discernment." On Sunday, April 3rd, the Women's Missionary Society will have their annual thank offering service. CASTLETON CLUB A the re-organization meeting "~oI-Castleton Club, Northumberland Coun ty, the President, Dan Kewin, was re-elected for the fourth term. The other officers are: -- 1st Vice-President--Derward Allen 2nd Vice-President--Floyd Harnden Secretary--Charles Quinn Treasurer--Leslie Campbell Directors--Wm. Tait, Robert Peg-nam, Grant VanBlaricom. The Secretary's report was very satisfactory. Over eight tons of binder twine were purchased from the U.F.O. Co-operative, as well as two hundred bushels of alfalfa seed., two cars of salt, considerable wire fence and several grocery orders. An oyster supper was held by this club in the Town Hall, and although it was a very stormy night, the proceeds amounted to nearly $150. At the annual meeting of Castleton Live Stock Shipping Board the Secretary's report showed a growing business, and that the shipper, John Coe»i-md shipped to the U. F. Co-operative fifty-one cars of stoek at an approximate value of $80,000, a gain of $29,000 over the previous year. An age of fifty ho^s, twenty calves and three head of cattle were shipped each time. Mr. Walter Smith, agricultural representative, was present addressed the meeting, after which the old directors were re-elected: President--E. A. Rutherford Secretary--W. Tait Shipper--J. Cooney Mr. Steward Cox also ships to the Co-operative from Colborne and joys a good share of trade from the district. Word was received by friends here that Miss Carrie Lathrope of Bowman-vill has a broken arm from a fall. Mr. Jas. Prosser and family are moving into Mrs. McAlister's home. Service in Eden Church next Sunday in the morning at the usual hour. Mr. E. Williams and bride of Bow-nianville have been visiting at Mr. and Mrs. E. Goodrich's. Miss Ruth McDonald entertained about thirty of her young friends on Friday night of last week. Miss Marjorie Dudley, who has been spending the winter at "The Cedars," has gone to Ottawa for a few weeks. The night of the 17th was celebrated by an all night party at the home of Mr. Herbert McDonald, a large number being present. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Dingman, 4th concession, Brighton, were among the merry throng at Mr. Hubert McDonald's party on Thursday. The people of Dundonald deeply regret the death of Mrs. David Bland, who was once a resident here and was highly esteemed. Deepest sympathy is tendered her bereaved husband. EDVILLE iMiss Janey Cooper is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Gilbert Waite, of Hilton. iMr. and Mrs. Wallace Onyon spent Sunday last with Mr. and Mrs. f Onyon. Mrs. Albert Hoar spent a few days last week visiting her daughter, Mrs. Roy Brown. No service last Sunday in Sharon Church. A four point circuit leaves each church without service once a month. We are surely drifting back to olden days. The St. Patrick's concert given by Miss Lena Murphy's pupils, with the assistance of the young ladies of the neighborhood, was a decided success. The Irish songs and dialogues were appreciated by all; also the comic duets by Mr. Carson Hubbs and Mr. Henry Farrow of Hilton.
