Mr. George Clarke, our local school teacher, was away on Tuesday attending the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs. Clarke, Myers burg. Our Young People's League meeting Friday evening, May 13th at 8.00. In charge of our Misionary Vice-President, Miss Marjorie Purdy. Mrs. M. Purdy, Miss Harriet Bow-ditch, Mr. Geo. Brown and Rev. J. B. Beckel attended the funeral of Mrs. Hogle, in Colborne, Tuesday of this week. Seventy-five folk were present at the "Go Get 'Em" Class meeting on Sunday afternoon, at 2.45. Mr. Herb Pomeroy gave the address. Meeting this Sunday at 2.45. Mr. Harold Brown gives the address. Both men and women invited. 'Services in the United Church this coming Sunday, May 15th, as follows: Sunday School at 10.30. "Go Get 'Em" Class for men and women at 2.45. Preaching Service at 7.30. In the evening a special "Fathers' Day Service." Music by ladies' choir. Everybody welcome. NORHAM Mr. Isaac Piatt has gone to Frank-ford for a visit. Mr. Bruce Gummer spent Sunday with friends here. Mr. Isaac McNutt has gone to Trenton to work in a garage. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Denike spent Sunday with friends near Picton. Mr. Oscar Campbell has engaged to Mr. Ivan Denike for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Palmateer of Oshawa spent Sunday with friends. We are sorry to report Mr. Fred Huycke had the misfortune to break his collar bone. Mr. Clarence Partridge and family, near Campbellford, spent Sunday at the parental home. This community was shocked on Sunday to hear of the sudden death of Mrs. Monroe Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Spears of Roseneath spent the weekend with her sister, Mrs. Clem Palmateer. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Valleau of Hastings was visiting a couple of days with his sister, Mrs. Clanson. - Miss Laurel Arkles, our school teacher, was called home Friday on account of the illness of her mother. WARKWORTH Mr. H. Zufelt of Rochester is visiting relatives in town. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Finlay and Mr. and Mrs. Isacc Marks Sundayed with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Young. Mr. John Blakley died at his home in Meyersburg on April 16. He was born in Percy Township eighty-seven years ago. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Little and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond .Little motored from Toronto and spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Young. Dartford Church Anniversary will be held on May 22. The financial objective is $200. Rev. J. S. I. Wilson, B.A., B.D. of Brighton is the minister for the day. A quiet wedding was solemnized at the home of Mrs. A. E. Liscumb, Victoria Street, Norwood, on Tuesday, April 26th, -1927, when her elder daughter, Beatrice Maude, was united in marriage to Mr. David John Greenly, of Warkworth. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. F. Stillman of the United Church. COBOURG Mrs. Wm. Henderson, who has been visiting in Hamilton, has returned Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hopper, who nave spent the winter in Passadena. Cal., returned to town yesterday. 'Major and Mrs. A. S. Morrison, of Niagara Falls, are spending the week with her mother, Mrs. Thos. Mitchell. Miss Nellie Goodrich of Toronto spent the past three weeks at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Goodrich. The death occurred in Toronto on Saturday last of Lillian Violetta Wilson, daughter of the late Harry and Mrs. Agnes Wilson of Toronto, formerly of Cobourg, in her 29th year. Interment took place in Cobourg Union cemetery on Tuesday. Col. James O. Wilson, former assistant commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, died in Victoria, B.C., last week. Deceased was a brother of Dr. W. T. Wilson, superintendent of the Ontario Hospital, Cobourg, and had been 42 years in the force, joining as a boy of 18. He retired several years ago owing to ill-health. A quiet wedding took place at the Baptist parsonage on Saturday evening, April 30, when Miss Mavis Josephine Minifie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Minifie of Cobourg, was united in marriage to Mr. Frederick James Litster of Baltimore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred B. Litster, of Baltimore, Rev. J. N. Norton officiating. They were unattended. Mr. and Mrs. Litster will reside in Cobourg. EDDYSTONE Mrs. C. Turk is improving slowly. Mrs. J. Philp entertained the Ladies' Aid last Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs.' Frank Wilce spent Sunday with her parents at Toronto. IMr. and Mrs. Wm. B. Wright recently visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank McDonald. A number of the children here in the Public School have been ill with bad colds. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. E„ Fiddick and son. Lyle, spent last Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Frank McDonald. Mrs. ,7. McMillan and Miss Rena McMillan and Mr. B. Thompson, Cobourg, spent last Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Mutton. Mothers' Day was observed here in Shiloh United Church last Sunday morning, following Sunday School. The Mothers' Day program was fully carried out, including the Pageant. Mr. S. Clarke of Morganston visited the Sunday School and stayed for the Mothers' Service. --. BRIGHTON Mr. Irvine Post of Colborne spent a week or two visiting his sister, Mrs. James Snelgrove. Mr. Edward Farrow of Edville has been spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. William Farrow. Miss Aileen Shewman of Toronto spent a few days recently with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Wade. Rev. and Mrs. Boyce have gone gone to Oshawa to spend some time with their son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Penfound. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Chatten have returned home after a five month so-jurn in St. Petersburg. Florida, and other places inland. Dr. and Mrs. Dure and Master John motored to Uxbridge last weekend to see the Doctor's mother, who has not. been very well lately. Miss Myrtle Lawson. who has been out of school through illness since last fall, is sufficiently recovered to be arouncKagain and visited her grandparents, Mr .and Mrs. Frank Carr last Sunday. Although there has been a great deal of sickness in town lately, it is gratifying to know that most of sick folks are improving. Mrs. Quick is able to be out to the verandah nd Mrs. A. M. MORGANSTON Mr. Clarence Glover has purchased Mrs. Lome Darling has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Marcus Massey, a* Noiham, for the past week. The cheese factory started operations on Tuesday, May 10th, 1927, with everything in good running order. 8WMtethin<g fine is expected from the makers this season. Last Sunday's service was in honor of the mothers. Mr. Beckel very ably presented their duties and responsibilities, while the male choir very ably furnished the music. Next Sunday the service will be in honor of the fathers of the congregation, while the ladies will do the singing.
