BRING RESULTS Butter Wrappers at Express Office TWENTY-one booming guns from" the old artillery emplacements that once sent smoke-covered salutations for the great men of Old France greeted their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales, Prince George as the Canadian Pacific liner Empress of Australia bearing the Royal Party to Quebec rounded the cape towards the King's Wharf. Above the dull thunder of the guns rose the continuous cheering of the populace, the same populace giving its unstinted greetings to Premier Baldwin of Great Britain. There was a fresh breeze curling the waters of the St. Lawrence as the liner steamed slowly to the wharf. The Ancient Capital gaily bed»*ked with thousands of flags Artillerymen lined the gun empli . ments Royal Canadian Dragoons with gilt helmets, scarlet tunics and mounted on spirited horses formed nted guard for the Royal visitors. Men of Courcelette, medal-bedecked presented arms to the young heir to the British throne whose own chest is decorated with the Military Cross for bravery at the Front. In response to an address of welcome the Prince of Wales said that he himself might be regarded as a colonist. His arrival at Quebec therefore might be regarded more as a homecoming than a visit. Those near the Prince saw an eager look appear in his eyes as the Empress of Australia neared Quebec. Premier Baldwin too was glad to see the Chateau-crowned city appear in the distance. He had come a long way to see Canada and to learn the Canadian point of view he told the correspondents. This he said was his first visit to Canada for many years, the first being made in his student days 30 years ago to what was then known as "A land of Promise". Quebec, grey old city of the past, which despite its busy life really remembers its past and r charm that has made it an unique spot on the continent. The King's Wharf where the parties landed might have been a royal pavillion at some jousting lists brought up to date. From a tiered grandstand dignitaries of the Church and State waited to extend a greeting, priests robes and silks of the ladies adding to the color of the scene. All, with thousands of people who had gathered from all parts of the country joined :- - great ovation to the Ambassador lis Majesty the King and the helmsman of the British state. Along the terrace of the Chateau Frontenac thousands of eager faces looked over the lower town to the Royal vessel. They too voiced welcome as the royal party stepped The Princes, Mr. Baldwin and parties after receiving a tumultuous welcome in Montreal left August 2 from the Windsor Street Canadian Pacific Station travelling in what is undoubtedly the finest train ever assembled.
