The rains of last week caused the grain in the sfooks to grow in the field. IMiss Ruth Chapman is the guest of her cousin, Miss Marjorie Chapman, Mr. A. Mutton recently called on Mr. A. M. Macklam, Front Road, near Brighton. Mr. and M,rs. W. M. Miller. Osh-awa were recent guests of relatives at "The Cedars." (Mrs. George Johnston of Colborne is visiting at the homes of Mrs. H. and Mrs. A. Mutton. Dundonald school opened on Tuesday with our new teacher, Miss Ruth McDonald in command. Rev. B. D. King and two children, have been spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Dunnett. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Samons spent Sunday with our Mr. and Mrs. Austin Ding-man, 4th concession, Brighton. IMt. and Mrs. Gordon Dunnett were guests at the Dunnett-Maybee wedding on Tuesday evening at Brighton. Mr. Clayton Dudley and two sons, Ralph and Orloff, Warkworth, spen^ part of Labor Day with relatives here." Miss Isobel Riendeau, who was successful in the recent entrance examinations, is attending Campbellford High School. IMr. and Mrs. M. Broomfield. Mary, and Mrs. W. Clarke spent the afternoon of Labor Day with Campbellford friends. Miss Helen Dunnett, our former teacher, left on Monday for Toronto General Hospital to begin Ker training as a nurse. Master Raymond Dudley who has spent his holidays with his parents in Warkworth, is again attending Dundonald School. Master Lawrence Chapman returned on Tuesday, after five days' visit with Toronto friends and an enjoyable time at the great exhibition. Mr. and Mrs. S. Lawrence and Mr. and Mrs. Knight of Oak Heights spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mutton and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mutton. Miss Marjorie Dudley, Colborne, has been visiting her Dundonald relatives, before leaving for Kingston General Hospital, where she will train for a nurse. |Mr. and Mrs. M. Broomfield, Master Donald and Miss Mary, Mrs. Clarke, Mr. and Mrs. Trottman and children and Mrs. Vanwicklin and mother, Mrs. D. McDonald, spent Sunday in Co-Miss Alice Barker of Williamsville, N.Y., Deaconess, in* company with Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Wright, attended Eden Church Sunday morning and afterwards visited Mr. and Mrs. J. Wright. IMiss Marjorie Mutton has home after spending a couple of weeks with her cousin. Miss Josephine Onyon. IMr. and Mrs. W. Eakin of Colborne, and Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Murphy called cn their friend. .Mrs. Emma Loomis at Codrington. Mrs. Loomis is an invalid and has been confined to her bed since last March. Our S. S. Picnic passed off very pleasantlv on Wednt sdav last at Little Lake. The afternoon was all that could be desired--(ball games, races for young and old were much enjoyed. About fifty sat down to one table and enjoyed the good things to eat. Miss Marie Drinkwalter, nurse-in-training at Belleville Hospital, is quite ill with typhoid fever. Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Drinkwalter motored to Belleville on Saturday last and report Miss Marie doing as well as could be expected, as she had undergone an operation for appendicitis only a short time previous. EDDYSTONE Mrs. Andrew Harnden spent Sunday at Warkworth. Miss Olivia Joice left on Monday for Toronto General Hospital. Miss Eva Bradley of Cobourg spent the weekend with friends here. Miss E. Wolfraim of Castleton spent Sunday with .Miss Berniece Turk. Mr. Andrew Harnden and Mrs. Vernon Harnden are expected home this Tuesday. IMiss Darling is back again at her old task, teaching school. It re-opened on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Coffee of Rochester spent Monday at Max Creighton's and Mr. J. Coffey's. Mr. and Mrs. Will May and family of Cobourg spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. C. Turk. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Howard and son of Orillia spent the weekend at his father's, Mr. C. Howard. Mr. and Mrs. A. Mackey spent Sunday and Monday with his father, who has been very sick, but is some" better at time of writing. Mrs. Chappie, daughter and husband, and son and wife and two children of Buffalo are visiting her sister, Mr. and Mrs. H. Stewart. A number of neighbours and visitors spent Labor Day around the Lake. Those present were: Mrs. Asa Harnden, Mr. L. Harnden, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Harnden and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harnden, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Stewart, and Henry and sister and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Philo Eddy. BRIGHTON Mr. Fred Mutton of Hilton left for Indian Head, Sask., on Monday last. Mr. Gordon Lapp has returned to his position in Calgary after spending the latter part of August at home. Mrs. Grocott and her son, Mr. Walter Grocott, of Portland, Maine, have been visiting her sister, Mrs. I " Solomon. ■Mr. Jas.
