The parsonage people were in Osh-?.wa this week attending the wedding cf Mrs. Beckel's sister, Miss Vera Shemilt. Mr. and Mr. Hassard Allen returned on Sunday from a motor trip to Ohio, Detroit and Buffalo, and will re at the Allen homestead. Several of our citizens went to erville on Sunday afternoon to join the crowd at the ceremony of unveiling the War Memorial for Fallen Indians. Our village was well represented at Castleton Rural School Fair. Those who attended report an excellent display of baking, flowers, vegetables and all exhibits for which the fair stands. Rev. Austin Hueston of Belleville College preached a very helpful mon in the United Church Sunday evening. While' in the village he entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Bowen. Sunday, October 2nd, is Castleton' Anniversary Day. Services will be held at 11 a.m. and 7.30 p.m., conducted by Rev. C. D. Daniel of Campbellford. Special music by the choir. The Trustee Board earnestly solicit the help of all the Congregation in securing the $250, necessary for the carrying cut of their work. On Monday, September 26th, 1927, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Taylor had completed fifty years of married life and with their family and near relatives held a golden wedding reception. Many old friends called during the afternoon and evening to congratulate this worthy couple. Refreshments were' served by their daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were the recipients of serveral gold pieces, checks and other presents. A very pretty salad plate with gold band and handle was given themj by some of hjfer lady friends of the village. Mrs. Charles Nichold of our village received word on Sunday of the terrible tragedy that had happened to her relatives in their home near Pasqua, Sask. It seems fire broke out in the home of Mr. O. W. Huyck early Saturday morning. Miss Jean Huyck, a sister, gave the alarm. In an effort to save the children, William Huyck, the father of the children and his brother, Frederick, were burned to death. The youngest children met a simillar fate. Mrs. Wm,. Huyck, the eldest child, and Miss Huyck were saved. The Huyck's are well known our community and the sympathy of all is extended to them in that very sad hour of severe loss. MORGANSTON 7th.
