VERNONVILLE Mrs. George Fitchett paid a visit to her daughter in Aurora and to friends in Toronto, recently. Mrs. S. M. Ludoffff and children of Toronto are on an extended visit with Mr. and Mrs. George Lehman. (Mr. and Mrs, H. S. Cool, Cobourg, visited at Mr. W. Winter's and other friends for a few days last week. Mrs. Jane Deviney is spending a few days in Cobourg, visiting with ner daughter, Mrs. James Johnston. Mr. Stanley Deviney, who is in the employ of the Western Electric at Detroit, spent part of his holidays in Vernonville. Mr, and Mrs. I. E. Ventress, Salem, and Mr. George Ventress of Toronto, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Deviney early in the week. Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Blackburn motored to Fenelon Falls last week and spent a few days with their daughter, Mrs. W. Nelson Lawrence. They were accompanied by Mrs. Cluny McPher- Mr. James Kerr, who is now sojourning in Cobourg, paid a visit to his old home here last week. We understand Mr. Kerr lias rented his house to Mr. W. Stewart, who takes possession shortly. Mr. E. Yarrow still retains the blacksmith shop. Quite a number of our people were disappointed that Warkworth Pair Pay turned out so wet. This locality is usually well represented at Wark-worth's annual exhibition. The two last Fairs of the season---Norwood today and Roseneath on Friday--are still to be held and if the weather proves favorable, no - doubt each will attract many of our citizens, as each has. a strong hold on the Fair visiting Anniversary services will be in St. Andrew's Church here on Sunday, 23rd irist. Sunday morning service at 10.30 and evening service at 7.30. Rev. Geo. D. Campbell, Camborne. There will he special music by an augmented choir, and Mr, Chas, A. Cooke, of Ottawa, leader of one of the largest choirs in our Capital City, will sing at both services. On Monday night at 8 o'clock a splendid entertainment will be given. Mr. Cooke will be the special attraction for the evening and will be heard in. one of his unique and varied programs of songs, recitations, monlo-gues, etc. Further 'announcement next week. See bills and don't miss this entertainment. Mrs. C. T. Lapp spent a few days in Ottawa with her daughter, Margaret, and other relatives. Mr. Stuart Webb of Toronto spent the week-end with his : aunts, Mrs. Sanford and Miss Ferris. We are glad to report that the sick neighbors on Division St., Messrs. H. E. Spafford and J. A. Marshall are both improving. Mr. Gordon, Love and Mr. Dorman Sanford of Detroit have been the guests of Mrs. Mary E. Sanford and 'Miss Irene Sanford. iMiss Muriel Ross, nurse-in-training at Wellesley Hospital, Toronto, is at home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Ross for a week or two. Mr. and Mrs. R. Y-Leslie have clos-, ed their cottage at the Point and have taken up their, residence at the Clarendon Hotel for the winter. Mrs. Robt. Mikel reeeived word last week that her brother, Charles Shear, had died in Michigan. This is the second brother to -pass away in her family this summer. Mr. R. J. Hepburn of the local branch of the Canadian Bank of Coi merce is enjoying a fortnight's vis with relatives at Montreal, and Ottawa, where his son, Arnold, attending school.
