Mr. Cooke, the Indian Entertainer, who has become so popular, has been secured to give his unique and interesting programme in Castleton United Church on Wednesday evening, Nov. 0th, 1927. Many friends from the village and surround-country gathered at the Cemetery to pay last respects to one who until about seven years ago was a valued member of our church and community. The funeral service of the infant child pf Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hay-vas held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Haynes, Sunday afternoon, Oct. 23rd, 1927, in charge of ;ir pastor, the Rev. J. E. Beckel. large number of friends and rela-es gathered together to attend the service. Interment was in Castleton Cemetery. A number from here attended funeral service of the late Mrs. Mc-Quoid of Oak Heights on Monday, Oct. 24th, 1927. She had been in poor health for some months, but the end came quite suddenly. She is survived by her husband, two sons and a daughter. The service was held at their home, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. J. E. BeckeW The Young People's League are holding their annual Hallowe'en Social in the Town Hall, Castleton, this Friday evening, Oct. 28th, 1927, at 8 o'clock. Splendid programme. The usual prizes will be given for the best costumes. Rev. and Mrs. McLauchlin of Grafton will be present to assist in the programme and do the judging. Admission is 25c and 15c. Mrs. Roberts of Grafton, the President of the Presbyterial, was present and assisted in the leadership. Miss Ketch eson of Belleville, a Missionary on furlough from China, told of her experiences and work in a very amusing and unique way. Merriam died very suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. J. Moran. on Sunday, October 6th, 1927. Mrs. Merriam had been home from Western Canada for sev-months on account of illness, but her condition had so improved that he had intended returning to her usband at Ogema, Sask., in a short ime. She was sixty-seven years of ge and is survived by her husband nd two sons, Alfred of Ogema, Sask., nd James of Toronto, and one daugh-er, Mrs. P. J. Moran of Warkworth.
