Purdy, Miss Bowditch, Miss Beatrice and Sammie Purdy, spent Thanksgiving with friends at Bowmanville and Tor-Mr. Hershery Partridge has returned from Belleville and is living in the house formerly occupied by Mrs. Corey. Miss Nina Black went to Peterboro, on Saturday, where she expects to get a position. Miss Nina was a very active worker in the S. S. and other societies" and will be greatly missed. Keep Wednesday, Nov. 23rd clear for the visit to Castleton United Church of the Indian Entertainer, Mr. Cooke of Ottawa. Mr. Cooke will appear under the auspices of the Young People's League. Services in the United Church this coming Sunday, Nov. 13th, 1927, at 10.30 and 7.30. In the evening the Pastor will preach--iSubject: "Keeping the Torch High." Special Armistice Day Service. Everyone invited. Mr. Floyd Blakely, who has been in our village bank for some time, is being transferred to the bank in Port Burwell, on Lake Erie. Floyd expects to leave on Wednesday take up his new position. He will be greatly missed in our community. A large numjber of the people of this community attended services at Morganston on Sunday. Rev. John R. Butler of Frankford preached two excellent sermons. Also quite a number were over to the Fowl Supper Monday night. The total proceeds were $315.00. Castleton United Church is to be the centre of an unusual activity beginning Monday, Nov. 14th, 1927, when the first Northumberland Training School will be held each night for five nights at 7.30. The subjects to be taught and the staff of teachers are as follows: Child Study by Mrs. Norman Wilson of Toronto; Young People's Work by Rev. C. D. Daniel of Campbellford; The Teacher's Study of the Life of Christ by Rev. W. H. Clarke of Hilton; and Training the Devotional Lips by Rev. H. Neal of Wooler. Every S. Miss Estella Massey and Mr. Keith Morgan spent Thanksgiving at their respective homes at Morganston. The cold weather coming so suddenly found a good number still un-' prepared, although the weather had been unusually fine. ed in the basement of the church on Monday evening by the ladies of the congregation, and after the supper was served everyone was delighted with the beautiful music rendered by the Brighton Orchestra. Everyone was equally pleased with Rev. and Mrs. McLauchlin of Grafton, who contributed so much to the enjoyment of the ■evening in the way of speech-making and elocution.
