All shades.. The day, Dec. 2nd. The place, Hawkins' store The fall meeting of the Cobourg Presbytery was held in Grafton on Thursday, Nov. 17th, 1927. Sessions morning and afternoon. Rev. J. S. I. Wlilson of Brighton, Chairman of the Presbytery, had charge of all the sessions. After the opening devotional exercises, Rev. W. H. Tanton of Cobourg gave a very helpful devotional talk. The presbytery then began its business and many matters of interest were discussed and decisions reached. At the noon hour, the different com-niiittees met and brought in their reports at the afternoon session. Reports of the Maintenance and Extension Fund were presented by Rev. T. Anderson of Port Hope. Rev. W. W. Jones of Warkworth, and Rev. J. S. I "Wilson of Brighton. Following the reports, Rev. Dr. Bryce of Toronto gave a very helpful address on the work of the church throughout its ertire constituency. The religous Education Committee presented thefr report in four sections. The general report was presented by Rev. H. B. Neal of Wfooler; Rev. C. D. Daniel of Campbellofrd spoke on Young Peoples' Work: Rev. John E, Glover of Smith-field spoke on Temperance Problems; while Rev. J. E. Beckel presented the work of the Standard Training School. The thurd report was from the Committee on Evangelism and Social Ser- dinner and supper in the Town Hall, vice, presented by Rev. Andrew Mc- under the direction of the President, Lauchlin of Grafton. It was conceded Mrs. P. C. Brown. The Spring Presby-by all that this was one of the best tery meeting will be held at Wark-Presbytery meetings ever held. The polls are to be opened from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Where it is found.necessary an advance poll can be held on Friday evening, Nov. 25th. There are seven hundred and seventy-five names on the voters' list and the interest grows keener as the candidates continue their speaking tour from place to place. Joslin attended the Royal Winter Pair, Toronto, last Mrs. W. J. Jamieson is visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Allan Coyle, Toronto. Inspector Levan of Toronto paid an official visit of inspection to Colborne High School this week. Mrs. E. Bradley of Rochester, N.Y., (formerly of Castleton) spent Saturday in town calling on friends. Mr. S. W, Sutton returned from the deer hunt with his venison, a piece of which ye editor was pleased to receive Mr. and Mrs. Alt Weir and daughter Mildred, and Mr. Calberry, of Toronto, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Turney. Mrs. J. S. Pickworth has returned from a visit to her brother, Mr. H. A. Farrow, and other friends at Bowman-ville and Oshawa. Mr. James Cockburn has returned home, after spending a few days visiting his cousin, Mrs. George Robson, at Niagara Falls, Ont. Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Salley (formerly Miss Frances Bradley), of Avon N.Y., have gone to Olympia, Florida, to spend the Winter. Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Fralick of Kin-dersley, Sask., arrived here by motor on Tuesday and are visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. C. T. Turney. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Orser are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Joslin for a few days before leaving for Tampa, Florida, for the winter. Mrs. S. D. Dudley, District Deputy Grand Matron, Order of the Eastern Star, paid her official visit to Trenton Chapter, No. 118, on Monday evening, Nov. 21st, 1927. There was a large attendance and neighbouring Chapters were well represented. Mrs. Dudley was presented with a handsome silver plate as a memento of her visit. A very pleasant and profitable evening was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Dudley was accompanied by Mr. Dudley and Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Fleming, of Colborne Chapter.
