Our institutions of learning re-open-od, after the Christmas holidays, on Tuesday, January 3rd, 1928. *• The rains of last week took away our nice sleighing which helped make a joyous Christmas. Glad to report that Mr. C. Warner is very much improved in health. Hope to see him out again in the near Mrs. Beckel and family have returned home, having spent the Christmas holidays with her mother, Mrs. E. A. Shemllt, Oshawa. Mrs. E. Gerow returned home on Tuesday, Jan. 3rd. 1928, after spending a few weeks in Toronto visiting i^nd attending the wedding of her daughter. On Sunday, January 1st, 1928, the pulpit of th United Church was supplied by Rev. I. Terrybery of Toronto, who spoke in the interests of the Lord's Day Alliance. (Several from our village attended the entertainment given at Union Corners School house under the direction of Miss Nellie Wilson, teacher, and reported it as the best yet. At the close of the service in the United Church on Sunday evening, Dec. 25th, 1927, the officials of the Church met the pastor and presented him with a very substantial Christmas gift. Service in the United Church the coming Sunday. Jan. 8th, 1927, at 10.30 md 7. Sunday School at 10.30. Preaching service at 7. Pastor will preach. Subject: "The Divine Comrade." Strangers made welcome. The Official Board of the Castleton Circuit will convene in the basement of the Church on Monday evening, " in 9th, 1928, at 8 o'clock.
