Mr. George Clarke was Premier and was supported by Mr. Fred Black, Donald Purdy and Mrs. Hervie Welton. Mr. Hervie Welton was the leader of the Opposition and was supoprted by Mr. George Brown, Mr. Harry Day and Mr. John Bowen. The Government was defeated on the bill to tax bachelors. This Friday evening, March 2nd, a debate is being staged: "Resolved, That a dirty good natured woman is better than a clean <rank." Those taking part are Messrs. Leslie' Campbell, Donald Bleaker, Theodore Black and Floyd Harnden. Also other good programme. Come. EDVILLE February 28th, 1928 Mis. J. A. Hoare has been quite ill with a serious cold. Mrs. E. M. Hinman has returned to her home her and is gaining nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brown of Hilton visited Mrs. Brown's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hoare on Friday. iMiss Alice Graham has been seriously ill and under the Dr's. care, but is quite a bit better again. Miss Josephine Onyon is leaving for Montreal, this week, where she expects to take up training as a nurse. Mr. and Mrs. Wes. Hall of Brighton Township, visited Mrs. Hall's parents on Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Chatten. IMr. Edward Farrow went to Colborne and brought his sister, Mrs. James Piekworth, home with him on Friday. Mrs. Piekworth fell on the ice on Wednesday, and an X-ray show-that the right elbow is fractured in several places. WARKWORTH Miss Willa Woof, accompanied by Misses Phyllis Rome, Marion Mitchell and Eva Barringer of Peterboro spent the weekend at home. )Mr. Clayton Anderson, Miss Mary Anderson and Miss Mabel Whitman of Selby, are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Anderson and Mrs. J. E. Edgar Mr J. L. Phillips, First Principal of Warkworth Chapter, R.A.M., No. 110, attended the annual convocation of Grand Chapter, R.A.M., in the Province of Ontario, held at London, Ont. last week. Mr. John Herriot died at his home in Wlarkworth on Friday, February 17, 1928, as a result of a stroke and had only been ill about ten days. Mr. Herriot was seventy-two years of age. and had been a prosperous farmer'in Percy for many years. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, George and William, and one daughter, Mrs. Herbert Oliver, all of Percy. The remains were interred in the Warkworth cemetery on Sunday. Windsor, Feb. 23.--A new election will be held, in Sandwlfch East to fill the seat on the. Council left vacant by the disqualification of Charles B. Jones by Judge J. J. Coughlin in the County Court to-day as a result Of non-payment of taxes by nomination day, Dec. 26th. The date of 'the election has not yet been set. Peterboro County road rate for 1928 has been fixed at 3 mills on the equalized assessment.
