Remember the play in the town hall this coming Friday evening, April 27th, 1928, under the auspices of the Fanner's Club. The Ladies' Aid meet in the basement of the Church this, Thursday, afternoon, April 26th, 1928, at 2.00. All ladies cordially invited. Miss Barker of Port Hope, Inspector of the Mothers' Allowance was in our community on Tuesday, visiting- those who are aid receiving, and looking into the value of new c Mrs. I. Lapp, who has been sick in her home for so many months, taken to Cobourg Hospital on Tuesday morning for further treatment. Her condition is considered very serious. The Young People's League was held Wednesday evening this week, owing to the play on Friday night. Remember the banquet in the Church basement on Friday evening, March 4th, beginning at 7 o'clock sharp. Remember the service in the United Church this coming Sunday evening, April 29th, 1928, at 7. Pastor will preach. Subject: "The Parable of tm? Tares." You are cordially invited attend. Sunday School as usual at 10.30. A bad accident occurred i lage on Sunday, April 22nd, 1928, when Mr. Howard Carr, wife and family were returning to their home. In some way the horse took fright at the parsonage corner and began to run away. Both Mr. and Mrs. Carr were thrown out, though the children remained in the rig until the horse tame to the canal, when the horse suddenly stopped, throwing the children out, one of them into the canal. Help was on hand at once. Mr. Carr was badly hurt about head and shoulders. Children were badly shaken up. Mrs. Carr came off the best of any. All are doing well at time of writing. Another of the aged residents in our community died on Friday, April 20th. 193S, iii the person of Mrs. Mary Jane French. She had been ill only a few days with pneumonia, though for years she had suffered with rheumatism. She and her son. Lewis, lived on :tbeir farm just south of Castleton. She will be- greatly missed ! v her son Lewis, as well as her ether son. George, of Battleford. Sask The funeral service was held on Tuesday. April 24th, in the United Church. Oliver have returned to their home in Salem, after spending the winter in Edville. Mrs. Oliver will be greatly missed in our Ladies' Aid and W.M.S., of which she was a valued memlber. Mr. and Mrs. B. Sprung of Wilberforce are staying with their daughter, Mrs. Lome McDonald. Mr. Sprung is in very poor health. He was a patient in Belleville Hospital for several weeks before coming to Mrs. McDonald's.
