Newton of San Diego, California, is at Craig-Miller farm, Baltimore, visiting the other members of the family. It is eighteen years since Mr. Newton was here last, andit is forty-eight years since he left the old home of the Newton family on the Front Rond. Mr. H. C. Higginbotham, who has been manger of the Standard Bank of Canada branch in Cobourg for the i tli- Bank, and intends going into the bond |business in Cobourg. The fine weather of this week will enable the farmers to get in the hay, which on acocunt of so much rain has been a very difficult undertaking. The garden party at Mr. H. Welton's under the direction of the W. I., was well attended. Over $60 was received. Mrs. W. Purdy held the lucky ticket for the quilt and it became her property. Mr. D. Hymer, wife and son, also {Miss Millar, of Rochester, who are on a motor trip to Thousand Islam and up the St. Lawrence, visited their friends, Mr. and Mrs. N. Gaffield on Monday. Four well filled autos left our village last Wednesday to picnic at the home of Rev. J. E. and Mrs. Beckel, a: Napanee.
