GRIFFIS Phone 8Sw COLBORNE A DANGER TO MOTORIRSTS Boston Post: Road signals indicating the proximity of dangerous curves, blind road intersections and railway crossings at grade -- are generally striking' and serve a useful purpose. They have probably saved many lives. But there is also increasing an impudent nuisance in connection with then;. Advertisers are copying their shape and lettering, often warning the automobilists to "Stop" and test the wares of the tea rooms, "hot dog" stands and gasoline stations a little farther on. These signs are an annoyance to any driver who is taken in by them. In addition, they tend to lessen the efficacy of the authorized warnings. If there is not law enough to remove these deliberately faked signs, there should be. They do nobody any good, not even the advertisers themselves. INTERESTING TRADE STATISTICS It is rather interesting to notice that in the last trade year Great Britain bought our productions to the extent of $410,700,005, to which we replied by buving from her goods amounting to $185,888,581, which left Canada $224.8111,424 to the good. The United States bought from u.s $4178,006,114 worth of our produce, and sold us $719,449,513 worth of their goods, which left-Canada with $241,437,399 to the bad. We lost, that is, to the States, more than all we made by our Trading witlh our Mother Country! Is there not something worth thinking about in that? And Great Britain gives us free entry to her markets, while the United States has a high tariff wall, we have to pay well to get over to get into their market. If you have. anything to sell advertise in "The Express." The article j you wish to dispose of may be the very thing someone is looking for. The cheapest and quickest way to sell Is to advertise. If your supply of printed envelopes, letterheads or billheads is getting low phone or see The Express. Good stock and good work at close prices. BLOCK WHEELS FOR REPAIRS P.locking the wheels of an automo-ule when about to change tires on he road is one precaution sometimes u-glected with fatal results. Even yhen the car is standing on a very light grade it takes a small amount if force to start it and the momentum nay cause it to slip off the jaek. Butter Wrappers at Express Office j with ana that free distribution of the watery extract of liver, is the aim .of the Ontario Department of Health. Dr. Godfrey, Minister of Public Health,, announced las't week, that such was the case. "It's a big prob-' lem," he stated, "but we're not afraid to tackle it. We spend $50,000 a year on free insulin. We distribute all kinds of vaccines and serums free of charge. It has always been my policy that no person shall die in this Ontario of-ours just because he or she hasn't the price to pay for the required cure. We may have to go slowly for a while in respect to the dis-tributtion of the liver extract, but we're going to put it across sooner As the first step toward the objective he and his departmental colleagues have in mind, Dr. Godfrey announced, that a survey of all pernicious anaemia cases in the Province would be undertaken this fall, circum-tances permitting, or by next summer at the latest. "We want to see where we're at first," he declared. "We want to get a line on how many patients' we will have to supply." At the present time, according to Dr. Godfrey, all watery extract of liver sold in Otraario is dispensed and distributed by the Con naught Laboratories. In the experimental stages the extract was supplied free to doctors and hospitals for treatment of patients on whom accurate clinical charts were kept. That policy for various reasons has now been discontinued. The extract is now sold at $3 a six ounce bottle. This, while no more than actual cost, represents, in the Minister of Health's opinion, a case of "too much for any poorer person," especially when the treatment of any mild case, he states, ranges from one to two ounces of the precious extract a day. For that very reason he is now at work on his program of free distribution. Dr. Godfrey is inclined to look with considerable disfavor on the "high prices," demanded by purveyors for liver at the present time.
