Mrs. Auguste Bolte, of Toronto, who is spending the summer in Cobourg, had the misfortune to slip while coming down the stairs at her home on Tuesday, receiving a slight concussion of the brain. Mr. Richard Hare and daughters motored from Polaski, N.Y., to visit hi.; brother, Mr. John Hare, Provincial Highway. East, and his sisters, Mrs. Laura Mulhall and Miss M. Hare, here and other places. Mr. John Bogan, an old Cobourg boy, was in town the past week renewing old friendships. It is 41 years siince Mr. Bogan left Cobourg. and he has not been back since. He saw many changes in the town but met a number of old friends. Mrs. C. C. Arthur, of LaCrescenta, California, sipent a few days in town during the week with friends. Mrs. Arthur will be in Consecon until October with her daughter. Miss Lenore, hoping it will improve the state of her health, which has not been the best of late. Mr. Evor Leonard, local agent for the Great West life Assurance Company, received on Tuesday a handsome solid silver water pitcher from the officials of the company, he having been one of the high men &f the company in the business getting campaign during May and June. WARKWORTH (Mrs. W. H. Insley and children are spending a week with relatives in Hamilton. Miss Barclay, former teacher in thc-high school, is visiting her friend. Miss Jennie Boyce. Mr. W. K. M&ssey of Saskatoon, fiask.. is visiting the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Wm. Massey. Mr. M. E. Smith, who spent the summer holidays at Inland Palls Junction, returned home last week. Miss Winnifred Huycke of Civic Hospital, Ottawa, is visiting the parental home, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Huy- in Warkworth, and other friends in this vicinity. Friends of Mrs. ITh:) C. C. Armstrong were sorry to hear that she fell on Sunday last, and suffered a broken arm. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Stewart, Brockville. have been holidaying at the home of Mr. P. S. Ewing and Mrs. Boyce, Percy Boom. Dr. Ritchie and wife and Mr. Carlton Richardson of Flint. Mich., visited the home of Mr. P. S. Ewing and friends in Percy last week. Mr. Harry Armstrong, B.A.. of Toronto, spent the weekend at the parental home. This is the first time in a number of years that Mr. and Mrs. Jas. A. Armstrong have had their whole family home. Misses Elva Bowen and Nina Black who have been spending th< past week in Buffalo, returned home with Mr. Wm. Black. A large congregation filled the United Church Sunday evening. The Pastor, the Rev. G. N. GardineT, preached a very inspiring sermon, taking "Sunsets" as his theme, using as his text, Luke 4:40, "Now When the Sun Was Setting." He pointed out the beauty, softness, gentleness of the sunsets, and that no two of them are alike, The speaker said that the sunse a revelation of the Will and the Mind of God, and he urged that we meditate more upon the Majesty of God.
