My nomination paper was the first nomination filed at Warkworth, and I have entered the contest in Northumberland as a straight Liberal candidate because the straight Liberals of the riding and the Leader of the Liberal Party, Hon. William L. M Nenzie King, wished it. The Liberal standard should not [lowered in this good old County at the request of a party, or of persons, whose unconcealed purpose is to break the Liberal Party. The National Progressive Party shows its true colors not only in this riding by declaring it does not wish the return of the Liberral Party to power but elsewhere, as it has placed its candidates in opposition to Liberal leadersin three-corner fights at every strategic point--againfet Mac-Lean (Halifax), Murphy (Russell), King (North York), Ross (West Mid dlesexl Graham (South Essex), Pardee (West Lambt..m), Moth erv, ell (Regina), and Oliver (Edmonton) Electors, are these the tactics of The Liberal Party and Liberals throughout Canada are in the field to defeat the Meighen Government. The record of the Government and the Party supporting it must receive a condemnation by the people. Electors of Northumberland, you can secure a change of Government only by placing your power in the hands of the Liberal Pat-;y. It will be for you by your votes on December 6th to say whether Canada, is to have a change oi. oovernment or a mere swapping of Western opportunists . CHARLES W. KERR. Cobourg, Ontario. He Will Probably Leave Great Britain About End of This Week and Expects to Spend Christinas In Washington--Will Use His Good Sense and Diplomacy to Harmonize Divergent Views. LONDON. Nov. 29. -- Premier Lloyd George is "morally certain" that his next Christmas will be spent in Washington. Those were words used by a member of the Prime Minister's entourage to describe his outlook on the correlated situation created by the arms parley and the Irish negotiations. Lloyd George has received so many messages, both from this side and from America, urging that he should go to Washington that he has gone so far as to book his passage by the Aquitania next Saturday. The Prime Minister's hopefulness is based on the conviction that only a negligible number of the people, either in England or Ireland, want the Irish negotiations to break down. It1 is agreed that the statement which Sir James Craig will read before the Ulster Parliament this week will leave the door open for a continuance of the negotiations upon new lines, it is found that agreement cannot i reached upon the lines that have far been explored. The political correspondent of the Sunday Times says: "If he can clean up here in time Lloyd George will sail Saturday next, but, at any rate, his departure will not, be delayed longer than the fo'lowing week, so that he will be in Washington by the middle of December at the latest. No date can be fixed for his return, but it is probable that he will sail again early in the new year, so as to reach home in time to discuss with his Cabinet the program of the new Parliamentary session. "Ill as the Prime Minister can be spared from Downing Street while the Irish negotiations are still in mid-ehannel and their fate uncertain, the turn that has been given to the discussions at Washington renders it imperative that he should cross the Atlantic without delay, if the conference is not to peter out ingloriously. "It has been borne in on them, however, that, despite the excellent send-off that the conference received in Mr. Hughes' speech, its opportunities have been not a little frittered away by lack of experience in handling international matters, and they are looking to the British Premier, with his prestige and popularity, to pilot them through the shallows they have reached. "If 'tis done, then 'twere well it were done quickly, and Lloyd George will not stand on the order of his going." Brunswick House Colborne UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT Give us a call when in Colborne J. F. TORONTO, Nov. 29. -- Following a brief illness, the death occurred at the Toronto General Hospital Sunday night of his honor Lieut.-Col. Sir Douglas C. Cameron, K.C.M.G., former Lieutenant-Governor of Manitoba. He died at 7.55 p.m. The late Sir Douglas, whose home was in Vancouver, B.C., was taken ill a fortnight ago in Toronto, and for several days was confined to bed in the Queen's Hotel. At the Toronto General Hospital, to which he was subsequently removed, an operation was performed for mastoil. A complication of pneumonia set in, and Sir Douglas succumbed from the eombined effects. Lady Cameron is hastening to Toronto from Vancouver. Sir Douglas was Lieutenant-Governor of Manitoba from 1911 until 1916, when he was succeeded by the present official, Sir J. A. M. Aikins. Born in Prescott county, Ont, in 1854, ho was educated at high school at Vankleek Hill, and was engaged in farming in Ontario from 1871 until 1880; he went West to Winnipeg in 1880, and was engaged in various occupations until 1883, when he entered the lumber business under the firm name of Cameron & Co. His business underwent several name changes until about 1892, when it emerged as the Rat Portage Lumber Co., of which he remained president until his death. He was also president of the Maple Leaf Milling Co., and identified with numerous other business enterprises. His timber holdings in British Columbia were very large. In 1902 he was elected to the Ontario Legislature for Fort William and Lake of the Woods, but was defeated in 1905 and 1908. In 1908 he was unsuccessful candidate for the House of Commons. He was Councillor, and subsequently Mayor of Rat Portage. He was appointed K.C.M.G. Dec. 31, 1913, and honorary lieutenant-colonel of the 7 9th Highlanders in 1910. Besides his widow, two sons and one daughter survive. He was a Liberal in politics, and a Presbyterian in religion. Found Dead In Cutter.
