Mr. Hubert McConnell of The Ontario Temperance Federation was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Spencer at dinner on Sunday. On Sunday afternoon in Colborne United Church, Linda Darlene and Gregory Cecil, children of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil J. Nobes were received by Holy Baptism into the fellowship of the Church of Christ by the Rev. F. W. Taylor. At the service on Sunday morning in Colborne United Church the following Awards were presented to mem-of the Young Worshippers' League, for good attendance, by the Rev. F. W. Taylor, assisted by Mr. Russell Teal: Honours Gold Star-- Gordon McDonald, Arlis McLaughlin, Barbara Spencer, George Stickle, Marjorie Shepherd, Carol Bausch, Ann Ferguson, Billy Spencer, Marilyn Teal, Ann Teal, Terry Teal, Dianne Teal, Guy Grosjean, Donald Davis, Jackie Davis, Mary Pacey, Richard Pacey and Larry Stickle. Misses Ruth Cole and Frances Doonanco, students from Teacher's College, Toronto, spent the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Rutherford. They did their practice teaching at Wicklow School under Mrs. Rutherford's supervision. Mrs. G. F. Rutherford spent the week-end in Toronto and visited her daughter, Mrs. R. G. Leckey and young son at the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. May went to Toronto on Wednesday for the funeral of Mrs. May's sister, Mrs. Humphry Skitch of Toronto, formally of Cobourg. The service was held on Thursday and interment was in Cobourg Union Cemetery. Miss Verna Brock, Cobourg, Ontario, was a Wednesday afternoon guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Rowsome. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rowsome, Douglas, Cheryle and Paulette of Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Row- Mr. and Mrs. Alan Johns, Jeffery and Michael of Owen Sound were week-end guests of Mrs. John's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Rowsome. On Friday evening January 9th, the "Widow's Club" of Colborne held their first meeting at the home of Mrs. Marion Franklin. Cards were enjoyed and a delicious lunch was served. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Nellie Coyle, Church Street. Mrs. S. C. Baker, King St. E., had a visit Monday afternoon from Mrs. R. Chapman. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Bresee of Belleville called on Mrs. W. H. Rowsome on Friday at the home of her son, Mr. E. Miss Vera Sherwin spent the weekend with her mother at Fenella, Ontario. Brown's Corners Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Jackson spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mackenzie at Frankford. Deepest sympathy goes to the family of the late Charlie Post of Colborne who passed away on Saturday. The regular monthly meeting of the Ridge Road Institute was held at the home of Mrs. H. Rusaw on Thursday last with a good attendance. Mr. James Barr is under the doctor's care these days. Hope he is soon better.
