Aging Sir Thomas Sounds Off Sir Thomas Beecham rolled majestically into New York last month, midway through his latest guest-conducting trek around the U.S. Wtih successive triumphs in Philadelphia, Baltimore, ,and Washington already behind him,, the portly English maestro was in high good humor despite a cold which had put him in his hotel bed for a day.
