Supplement to The Colborne Chronicle, Thursday, February 26th, 1959 Lakeport Service in St. Paul's Presbytetrian Church Sunday at 1.45 p.m. Sunday School at 12.30 p.m. Service in St. Peter's Anglican Church Sunday at 3 o'clock. Mr. Tom Roddy, Guelph, spent the week-end at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Roddy. We are pleased to know that Miss Merle Flanders has returned from Cobourg General Hospital and is convalescing at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Flanders. Miss Barbara Genova and Mr. Wm. Annette, Toronto, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Colling. Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Crawford and family, Toronto, spent the week-end at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Crawford. Mrs. Wm. Irvine returned home after an extended visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marshall, Cobourg. Mr. James McKenzie, Toronto, spent the week-end at his home here. Mrs. McKenzie returned with him after two weeks vacation in Toronto. Mr. Murray Peebles spent the weekend at the home of his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Peebles, Georgetown. Mr. and Mrs. Verne Tapley visited at the home of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Nesbitt, Port Hope, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry May and family visited at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil May, Castleton, on Sunday. Mr. James Peebles, Oshawa, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. Peebles, and Mrs. George Peebles, for a few days recently. Mr. Bill Joyce and Mr. John Bore-ham, Toronto, spent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. Joyce. Mr. Harry Jackson, Toronto, is spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Andy Crawford. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Flanders on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. T. Krakenburg, baby Ronny Cochrane, Mr. Gary Caldwell, Mrs. J. Caldwell and daughters, Sandra and Marsha, all of Cobourg. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Pomeroy and son, Peter, Castleton, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry May on Saturday. Baby Deer We are wondering what happened to the baby deer that was stranded on a floating piece of ice a week ago, out beyond the ice banks along the shore, just before dusk. The news soon spread and several residents gathered around. Mrs. Noel Maskerey notified the police but they were unable to rescue it. We hope this was the same one that Mr. and Mrs. Unwin noticed the next morning in their neighbour's yard. They went out to make friends but it soon disappeared in the nearby cedars across the Lakeport Community Club Meeting The Community Club met at the home of Mrs. Harry Rush, Colborne, Tuesday evening, February 17th, with 14 ladies present. Mrs. R. Joyce, President, opened the meeting and everyone joined in singing "The More We Get To-gether", followed The Lord's Prayer. Minutes of the last meeting were read by the Secretary, Mrs. D. Peebles. In the absence of Mrs. G. Tutty, the Treasurer's report was read by Mrs. E. Cherry. Mrs. G. Dickens gave the sunshine report. All reports were accepted as read. Arrangements were made for fruit boxes and cards to be sent to those who had been hospitalized. The business part of the meeting was carried out in the usual man The ladies were reminded to bring gifts for euchre prizes, and also parcels to be sold during the evening, at the next meeting. Mrs. Cherry the travelling prize. The meeting closed with "The Queen" after v.iiich the entertainment committee, Mrs. Cecil Reid and Mrs. G. Dickens took cahrge. Winners of the Bingo games were Miss Margaret Mackie and Mrs. H. May. Mrs. Cherry was winner of the contest. A tasty lunch was served by the hostess and lunch commitee, bringing another pleasant evening to a close and a hearty vote of thanks was given to Mrs. Rush. Next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. R. Joyce, Tuesday evening, March 17th. Don't forget gals, this is the day for "The Wearin O' the Green." Shiloh There will be no service at Shiloh United Church next Sunday as it spare. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Chapman and; Gail, Edville, were Sunday guests of! Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mutton. Mr. and Mrs. John Dunk and Pearl, visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dunk on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. W. Hartford, Col-j borne, and Mr. Bert Wilce, Oshawa,; spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. ■ Frank Wilce. Mr. Robert Darke was a week-end guest of Mrs. M. Peterson, Oshawa, j and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Darke were' weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. Goodrich, Oshawa, and called on Mr. j ! and Mrs. Len Hurren on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Dale and girls were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Purdy. Mr. George Mutton, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Gillespie and sons and George: Hockney called on Mr. and Mrs. W.1 Hockney on Sunday afternoon.
