Colborne Centennial June 27, as, 29, 30, July 1, 1059 Everyone is asked to attend a Public Meeting in the Town Hall, Thursday, April 23, at 8 p.m. to hear the Centennial plans and to offer suggestions. The following letter is being mailed this W££k.to a thousand former residents of Colborne. Dear Friends: We do hope you are coming. What will you get out of your visit? You will meet again your relatives, and friends of earlier years, schoolfellows perhaps. You will see new buildings, the Post Office and Public School for example, and old buildings of historic interest. You will see once more Colborne's fine wide street and Victoria Park. You will want to visit the cemeteries where loved ones lie. What will you do here for five days, or during a shorter stay? See the list of suggested events on a separate page. Where will you stay ? Many of you with relatives or friends, of course. You might be wise to get an invitation soon. Colborne has its Queen's Hotel, its Brunswick Hotel, and the Triple V Motel on Toronto Road. In Brighton there are the White House and Presqu'Ile Motel, and at Wicklow is the Sussex Motor Court. Some Colborne residents will be willing to provide beds at a fixed charge of $2.00 per person per night. Such hosts may also provide breakfast, making their own charge. A Committee of ladies will arrange for your billet, and your request should come early. What about meals? Dinners are obtainable at the hotels and meals and snacks at Griffis Drug Store, Dove's Lunch, and Colborne Cafe. The Churches and the Canadian Legion Auxiliary are arranging to provide noon and evening meals daily at moderate prices. How many visitors do we expect? We wish we knew. Our guests might be at least 1000 each day from outside of Colborne. The majority would not stay overnight, but many will wish to. Let us know now if you are coming. Every friend of Colborne will want to have a copy of the Centennial Book. It will be mailed to you in return for $1.25, which includes package and postage. Please fill out the enclosed card. If we hear from you now, our preparations as to numbers and for entertaining all of you will be very greatly helped. Yours sincerely, Frank Harding, Chairman Ford Cowie, Secretary
