T Page Eight THE COLBORNE EXPRESS, THURSDAY, MARCH 20th, 1952 WICKLOW-VERNONVILLE WOMEN'S INSTITUTE The Girls' Homemaking Club, sponsored by the Wicklow-Vernonville Women's Institute was organized in November under the leadership of Mrs. J. Deviney. The Club, "Nimble Thimbles," has held seven meetings. They study selection of clothes as to suitability to occasion, colour, line and quality. They made many samples and mounted them in their scrap books: Plain seam overcasted, slip-stitched hem for the bottom of a skirt, bound button-hole, sewed button-hole, belt keeper or rat tail, true bias and its use, mitered corner, tailors' tacks, finishing a patch pocket, sewing on buttons. The project is "Cottons May Be Smart" and each girl has to complete a cotton dress and a record book before Achievement Day, the last of April, in Brighton. Eleven girls are taking this course. The officers are: President--Kathryn Judd Vice-President--Jean Wildey Secretary--Doris Bilcox Song Leader--Ruth Deviney Lunch Committee-- COLBORNE BASEBALL CLUB ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Colborne Baseball Club was held Monday evening, March 17th, in the Council chamber. There was a good attendance. The election of officers for 1952 resulted as follows : Honorary President--F. Harnden President--Jos. Persofsky 1st Vice-Pres.--E. W. Rowsome 2nd Vice-Pres.--G. E. Fox Secretary-^J. H. Gale Treasurer--L. Hill. The names of N. E. Davis and I. D. Post were added to the Executive, the manager (when named) also to act on this comimttee. The 1951 officers will continue to officiate until last season's business is completed. Judging by the enthusiasm and harmony shown at this meeting, we should see some good baseball here again next summer.
