Some time ago Reeve Harding asked the Recreation Club, the Legion and Rotary to each send three del egates to meet in the Council chamber. At this meeting held ifrg 2(i Sept. Frank Harding was smT; ected as chairman of the Centen-i nial committee. Pat Cunningham ] was installed as secretary with | Alex Hardie, Ed'. Rimmer and !jim Coumons completing the 1 committee. ] The first move was to contact j the Reeve of Stirling and1 to in-jvite him to meet our committee j to give us the benefit of Stirling's ' Centennial experience. Mr. Jim j Holt with four men who hajk. Lbeen the organizers of Stirling's ; show came to Colborne on the |§r of October. We had a very fgW structive and enthusiastic mcK-' ; ing. We discussed the great a|3^ j -tint of work the necessity of flfc | ting active support from each citi zen the difficulties of raising funds. This is the blood sweat and tears of a Centennial. But Stirling found that there was another side to it. Their show was a success and thev made money. They all had' a wonderful time, thev met old friends and made many new ones and nearly every one in Stirling benefitted. Your committee thinks we can do it too. We believe that the prize, a successful Centennary. is well worth the work involved; We are going ahead. Our object is therefore: 1st. we think we can advertise Colborne, help our bust nessmen and give us all a greater pride in our community. 2nd we i look forward with pleasure to re-j union with a great number of 01 !old friends and neighbors j will certainly return for a j and 3rd. because we are sure thai j have 1 i all of us will have a lot of fun. - Ut^nd I Our first step will be to selojjT \Vedn chairmen and committee menra| ers for the various aspects of tfcfr job. Right here, we realize, «jg| may meet with disaster. If the men we select refuse to serA then ve shall fail. So if vou are asked to help in any way please co-operate to the best of voidability. After all, we are working-only for a better town. COLBORNE COUNCIL The regular meeting of Colborne Council was held on October 13. Members present, Reeve F. W.
