The Memoriam in the Centennial Book had Harry Coyle, son of John. This should have been son of James Coyle. Haldimand Council Haldimand Township Council met June 4th, 1959, with all members present. Communications were read and dealt with from the following:-- McCarthy & McCarthy, Unemployment Insurance Commission, Ont. Dept. of Highways, Ont. Dept. of Planning and Development, Dept. of National Revenue, Ont. Hospital Services Commission, Hydro Electric, Canadian National Railways (2), Board of Transport Commissioners, United Counties N. & D. , Workman's Compensation Board, Attorney General of Ontario, Town of Cobourg, Cobourg District C.I., Northumberland Federation of Agriculture, Jas. Milgate, Lloyd Lockhaft, Dr. J. lies, Edwin Howell, Miss E. Fenton and others of a routine nature. The Building Inspector presented applications for building from L. D. Setterington, H. E. Smith, J. E. Smith, A. Mika-lauskas, Jonas Kartavicius and F. C. Quinn. All of these applications were approved. The Clerk was asked to secure the co-operation of the O.P.P. in the prevention of people starting brush and grass fires in the Township. Also to draft^ a stringent By-law to provide adequate penalties for all persons doing so without the necessary permit. He was also instructed to notify certain parties against erecting obstrucions on township roads. The following accounts were ordered paid: -- High Schools $9,006.78, Roads $5,039.97, General Accounts $1,024.32, Warble Fly, spraying $405.24, repairs to Barnham House $273.94, Fire calls $200.00. Total $15,935.25.
