Griffis, Colborne Public Utilities, was in Toronto to attend the four day Ontario municipal electric association convention at Toronto's Royal York hotel this week. This is the 61st joint OMEA - association of municipal electric utilities convention. More than 1,000 OMEA delegates took part in lengthy sessions on regional government as well as hear speeches by H.D. Woods, McGill University and T.A. Lindsay, president of the Ontario Municipal Association. Rev. and Mrs. R.W. French entertained a good turnout of members of the UCW at the manse, Wednesday evening March 4. After an inspiring worship, led by president, Mrs. K. Redner, plans were made to hold a fall fair in the S.S. rooms, November 4, with a number of booths. This is to be the main money raising project this year. Joe Persofsky lived here 35 years Joe Persofsky well known here for approximately 35 issociation with years. He leaves a wife, two for Colbright Orchards, Colborne, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 9, in Branson Hospital, Toronto. Mr. Persofsky had lived sons, one daughte grandchildren and two sisters. Funeral services were set for Wednesday in Toronto. Frank Semi itch dies Mr. Frank Semlitch passed away on Tuesday, March 3 at Cobourg General Hospital after an illness of several months. He was in Allen's Funeral Home at Warkworth. Funeral was held on Thursday at St. Jerome's Church; Rev. J.O'Sullivan nffiriatin? He was temporarilv nut in Warkworth Vault. He is is survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter, William at Colborne, Walter at Oakville, and Margaret (Mrs. Geo. Warner), Castleton, and eleven grandchildren. Bishop speaks MacGregor Farm Host To Milk Board 1°5°S!X The farm of D.W. MacGregor, RR5 Colborne, was the meeting place for tbe Northumberland Milk Marketing Board, Monday. Visitors were given the opportunity to examine the MacGregor 67 free stall barn unit, the milking parlor, as well as the automatic feeders and feed storage. Speakers included Glen Cole, past president of Dairy Farmers of Canada; James Doidge, DHIA supervisor; also, mastitis fieldman Jack Honey, and milk commission fieldman Merv Napper. HOT CROSS BUNS from McARTHUR'S BAKERY At the regular meeting of Colborne Rotary Club held Monday March 9, Bishop Henry Marsh, Cobourg, spoke and showed slides of his life*i the Yukon. Bishop Marsh served for eight years at Old Crow, an Indian settlement on the Yukon River and he described the living conditions, housing and people in the far north, when he was Bishop of the Yukon. Day Of Prayer Twenty-itwo ladies from three churches, Cramahe Baptist, Pentecostal and United gathered at Castleton United Church for the World Day of Prayer Service. Mrs. J. Blakely was the leader, assisted by Mrs. R.M. Sweeney, Mrs. S. Peebles, Mrs. W. Turney and Mrs. John Day. The Voices were Mrs. H. Allen and Mrs. J. Dillman. Mrs. G. Devine and Mrs. C.J. Mutton sang a duet "In the Garden". A film "Poor Man on a Throne" depicted how illiteracy is dealt with in Bolivia. Mrs. W. Wentworth served a cup of tea. Offering was $18.50. Colborne host The East Central Ontario Recreation Director's Association meeting was held in the Colborne Town hall Tuesdav. March 10.
