Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Waite accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mutton spent the weekend at Coe Hill Camp. Mrs. Harvey Eddy, Colborne spent Wednesday with Mrs. Jack Montgomery. The Winston Packard family were Sunday guests of Mrs. Irene Parks, near Stockdale. Mrs. Shirley Beavis, Oshawa, visited Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pearson, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Mutton and sons, Salem, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Mutton in honor of Wayne's birthday. Mr. Garnet Mutton returned home Saturday after a week's visit with Bowmanville relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Dale and eirls visited Mr. Peter Eddy in Kingston General Hospital Sunday. Mr. Bert Wilce, Oshawa, called on Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Dale Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Purdy spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Purdy and family at their trailer camp, Shelter Valley. Mr. Gordon Dunnett spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Colborne Would Be Twiggies Mutton at their cottage at Presqu'ile. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Scott and Susan, Port Credit, spent the weekend at their cottage. Mr. Earl Irwin, Trenton, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Mel Duley at "The Cedars". Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Oliver and family called on Mr. and Mrs. Dave Lackey, Wicklow, Sunday afternoon and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bos, Ver-nonville. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Mutton called on Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Mutton, Colborne, Sunday evening; Mrs. Jack Purdy called on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Oliver and family, Maple, were Friday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Oliver, Sandra remained for two weeks. . Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cable, Marion and Philip, Cobourg, called on Mrs. Jack Montgomery Friday evening, Mrs. Bob Hadwen and Blair, Brighton, called Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Lyal Chapman and family-attended a family dinner at Sunluck Gardens, Belleville, Sunday in honor of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Smith, Colborne , 45th Wedding Anniversary. We are pleased to report Peter Eddy able to return home from Kingston General Hospital, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Van Waite spent a few days with daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Holmes at their cottage, Baptiste Lake. CASTLETON UCW The afternoon unit of Castleton UCW met in S.S. rooms of United Church, June 4 with 16 ladies present. Mrs. C. Mutton led the worship using the theme "Love". Mrs. G. Welton read the Scripture and Mrs. Mutton gave the meditation and hymns. Unit leader, Mrs. J. Blakely conducted business* and Mrs. H. Allen acted as Secretary in absence of Mrs. C. Inglis. Minutes and thank-vou notes were read. Mrs. Slater reported a bale of 250 lb. of clothing had been sent. Miss Marion Greenly, treasurer, reported $29.75 was received for May offering. Mrs. Weii-toworth distributed books and gave a brief sum-of the Chapter 15 cents and 90 cents for a whole pie at sales. Mrs. Blakely offered her resignation as Messengers leader. Roll call, a proverb, was well answered; offering was received and dedicated. Mrs. Wentworth assisted by Mrs. Sweeney gave the study on Poverty at home and in other countries. Ignorance, hunger, disease, over-population and political pressures are chief causes of povertv. Mrs! H. Allen told briefly how M. & S. money was spent. Meeting closed with Mizpah benediction and lunch served by Mrs. C. Nelson followed. Here is an up to date account of the C.W.B.T. news "Weight loss from Feb. 1 to May 30 amounted to 45 pounds." Queen for Feb. was Betty Kelly; March, Pat Luyshyn; April, Joanne Puddephat; May, Ada Williams. Each Queen was presented the crown and a gift. WMS notes The WMS meeting was held in the basement of the Prospect Missionary-Church on Thursday-evening, June 11 1970. Mrs. Corbyn and Mrs. Grant in charge with 12 ladies present. Opening with Hymn No. 119, Hail the Power of Jesus' Name. Scripture reading by Mrs. Grant. Theme was on Mothers with the ladies in charge carried on from Mothers Day. Each lady present read a verse of Scripture with Mother in it, and then explained the meaning and gave comments on the verse which was very interesting. Mrs. Corbyn read a letter from a missionary, and Mrs. Grant read a poem. Offering and Roll Call was then taken. Mrs. Ramer read a letter from the Flanigans and one from the McKenzies. It was decided to have a work meeting in July. The meeting closed with prayer by Mrs. Ramer. Lunch was then served and a time of fellowship was enjoyed by all. COLBORNE PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Davis and children of Campbellford spent the weekend at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Davis. Dr. Ian Wilson, Cobourg. director of the Ontario Liberal party, and Don McPherson, Colborne. president of Northumberland County Liberal Association", attended the Eastern region annual meeting at Holida\ Inn. Kingston. June !3. The executive meeting of the Northumberland Liberal Association will be held June 23 at the home of .Mr. and Mrs J.P. Richardson. Ontario Thursdav night was Queen night: the meeting opened with Joanne Puddephat acting President. Marjorie Mutton. Secretary. Winnie Bilcox, Treasurer and Elsie Lee, Weight Recorder. Five members took part in Colborne Walkathon and were paid $17.20. Welcome was extended to Jean Sprung, a summer member, and Leah Rath, a new member. Also a member who had a leave of absence for 9 months and gained as many pounds; now has begun a losing streak with a 3 lb. loss. Ada Williams and Lorna Rath supplied entertainment and lunch. Prizes were won by Barbara Johnson and Winnie Bilcox. C.W.B.T. would warmly welcome new members, Thursday light in the Town Hall. Cards W.C.
