ENSS runners dominate Athletes from East Northumberland Secondary School completely dominated the "Jack Snider" races held at Gould Conservation area north of Sydenham Thursday, Oct. 17. The first event was the open girls' race. Unfortunately for Brighton Marg McKeown who was leading the race, was sent in the wrong direction by an "unofficial" official. This turn of events did not daunt the team as Carol Nyhoff took over the leadership and battled her way to an impressive third place finish. Combined with Louise Nadorozny's fifth, Michel Humphries nineth, Mario Taylor's thirteenth, Susie Warner's fourteenth, Anne O'Sullivan's twenty-second, Marg McKeown's twenty-fifth, and Barb Pros-ser's fourty-fifth, Carol's placing gave the girls FIRST place in the event. David Johnson and Harold Kuschnik of ENSS battled it out for the second and third respectively, in the midget boy's event. Steve Julian placed fifth followed by Mike Moran in sixth. Rod Mountenay was fourteenth; Len Cameron eighteenth; Jeff Leavy nineteenth; Mark Goddard twentieth; Rich Couperus twenty-eighth and Jamie Patrick thirty-second. These plac-ings were more than sufficient to give ENSS FIRST place in the midget boys event. Placing the junior team to its FIRST place award was Dave Peckham who won the junior boys' event. His closest rival was his own friend Robin Peister who easily captured second place. Paul Turner , finished a strong fifth followed by Shawn Wehring in tenth place; Ron Dale thirteenth, Bill Dorland fourteenth, Dave Monaham twenty-sixth, and Dan Griffith thirty-eighth. The senior team of Bill O'sullivan, fifth; Wayne Williams, eighth; Steve Sharpe, eleventh; and Dave Down, thirteenth; ran their best race of the year to place second in the senior event.
