According to the tourist association newsletter the fingerlings were divided between 30 resort operators who attended the pond emptying ceremony. Among the guests at the event were a bus load of American tourists brought by Pete Elmhirst of Four Seasons Resort. The tourist association works with the ministry of natural resources to produce the fingerlings for Rice Lake. This year the ministry cut the weeds from the pond, put minnows in the pond, inspected it and removed the fingerlings and put them in plastic bags for the resort operators. The ministry also provided soybean meal for the fry- needed before the fry could eat the minnows- and plastic bags for emptying day.
