Mrs. Honey returned home with them after spending the week visiting friends and relatives in Toronto and Markham. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Waite and family, Hilton, called on Mrs. Roy Chapman and Ray on Sunday. We are sorry to report Mrs. Chapman is confined to bed with the flu. The Morrisons remained for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Herbie Trottman visited at the home ol Mr. and Mrs. Willard Day, Castleton, in respect of the late Mr. Day on Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Purdy and Mrs. Mutton attended the funeral of the late Willard Day at Castleton United Church in the afternoon. Miss Melody Morrison spent the week-end with Mr. and Mr L. Wilmot, Kingston. Year's .week-end guests at the Haynes' home were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cheetham from Toronto. Sorry to report that Raymond Vanwicklin received a cracked collar bone while skating the day before New Years. The third reader at the Salem Christmas service was Miss Mary Bellamy. (Her name was omitted from last week's report). The four readers were Miss Karen Bellamy, Miss Laurie Fenaughty, Miss Mary Bellamy and Mr John Hutchings. Mr. and Mrs. John Davis and family spent Christmas week-end with her mother, Mrs. L. Morrow in Toronto. On Christmas Day all were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lome Gardiner and family at Rexdale. Mr. and Mrs. George Peters. Jimmy and Virginia, were New Year's Day guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Westrope and Dawn at Colborne. Mrs. Ross Wright of St. Catherines spent New Year's Day with her sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McDonald. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Davis of Colborne and Miss Annie Davis were New Year's Day guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Davis and family. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Waite and Connie of St. Catherines, Mrs. Millar, and Mr. and Mrs. Angus McDonald and family of Brighton called on Mr. and Mrs. Frank McDonald during the past week-end. SALEM by G. Mrs. Ron Peters was pleasantly surprised to find herself the guest of honour at a miscellaneous shower one evening last week. Mrs. Jim Brown of Salem was the hostess. The party was held in Colborne at the home of Mrs. Brown's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Beale. Guests during the holiday week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Haynes included Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Baker and Brenda of Hamilton, Mr. Howard Cowan of Kingsville, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lougheed from Sault Ste. Marie and their daughter, Miss Diane Lougheed of Dallas, Texas. New BRUCE EAGLESON NFA PRESIDENT FOR 1965 Bruce Eagleson, Cobourg, was elected President of Northumberland Federation of Agriculture at the monthly meeting held last Wednesday (December 30) at Brighton. ' Other officers elected were: 1st vice-president, Don Herriot, Plainville; 2nd vice-president, Hugh Fox, Wooler. Bruce Eagle-son was also elected OFA member for the coming year. The Tri-County Folk School being held in Picton from Jan. 22nd to 25th was announced. This Folk School will present an excellent opportunity for those interested in discussing problems of the rural community. Grant Wallace, OFA, ,and Miss Eleanor Syracuse, Community Programs, will be resourse leaders for the Folk School. Those interested in attending should contact Bruce Eagleson, Cobourg, or Mrs. Shirley Johnston, Grafton.
