Lowery, Knox College, Toronto, was in charge of the serviec at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church on Sunday at 1.30. Mr. Cecil Peebles, Milbrook, visited his mother, Mrs. George Peebles, on Sunday. Mrs. George Peebles is im proving after an attack of pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Harnden, Eddystone, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harnden. Mr. and Mrs. E. A Burns are spending several weeks vacationing at Nassau Mrs. Geraldine Chase and family, and her brother, W. Ames of West Hill, visited Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Irvine during the weekend. Jennifer and Jimmie Yarrow, Ajax, spent a few days with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ev-ered Yarrow. Mr. Grant Yarrow, Ajax, was a Sunday visitor. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Peebles attended the 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Lome Darling of Castleton. 75 guests yere present to help celebrate this occasion. It was held at the United Church Hall, Castleton last Friday night. Mrs. Ivan Flanders was called to Weston on Tuesday owing to the death of ther mother, Mrs. C. Archibald, who died Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. J. Gardiner, Weston. Mrs. Charles Allcorn was in charge of the local Post Office in the absence of Mrs. I. Flanders. Sympathy ir, extended to Mrs. Flanders and her family. Mrs. Flanders returned from Weston on Saturday, accompanied by her sister, Miss Florence, Archibald of Peterborough. j Members of the Ladies' Aid of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church met at the home of Mrs. Delbert • Peebles on Tuesday for another busy quilting party. Mrs. Ruby Vickery, Belleville, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Alf Peddlesden. 4-H CLUB MEETING The third meeting of the Community Charmers was held on February 27th at the home of Mrs. Lyle Chatten. The meeting opened with 'O Canada' and the 4-H pledge. The secretary's notes were by Arlis Chatten and approved. Home assignments and roll calls were answered by all. Collection was then taken. The treasurer's report was given. It was decided that Mrs. Chatten be reimbursed the sum of one dollar for supplies. A donation of money was given by Mrs. F. Pearson to our club. It was decided that the next meeting would be on March 6th at the home of Mrs. Lyle Chatten. Some pamphlets were then given out. Notes were taken on Vitamin D, fruits, fruit for supper and 'Good Foods are Economical Club members made "Coddled Apples", baked apples and fruit cup. , They sampled these plus an appetising prune sponge made by Mrs. Chatten before the meeting. Meeting then closed. Warr Calling on Mr. and Mrs. Warner on Sunday, were: Mr. and Mrs. George Bishop and son Ben, and their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Dale McAndrews, Miss Mary Mc. Kewan, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Winter and Betty, Academy Hill, and Miss Annie W- Mr. James Palmer reports three cardinals visiting his garden last week, one male and two females. These birds are few in this district. Mrs. Mabel Unwin reports a flock of crows visiting her garden, the first to arrive apparently. To quot a neighbour: "When the crows return, spring is just abound the corner." ARCHIBALD At the home of her youngest daughter in Weston, Mrs. C. E. Archibald, nee Jessie Elizabeth Johnston, slipped quietly into her final rest on Tuesday, February 23rd, 1965, in, her 87th year. Mrs. Archibald, born in Baltimore, Ontario, attended school there and married Charles Edmund in 1904 going to East Luther in Dufferin County to live on a farm. Her husband predeceased her in 1939. i To mourn her loss are one sister, Miss Agnes Johnston, Toronto; four children, Agnes (Mrs. Ivan Flanders, Lakeport), Florence, Civic Hospital, Peterborough, Margaret (Mrs. J. A. Gardiner, Weston), Bill of Ajax; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Pallbearers were her grandson, Ralph Archibald, the husbands of her four granddaughters, Tom Krankenburg, Cobourg, Gary Caldwell, Clarkson,- John Scrace, Toronto, Robert Wing, Scarborough and George Caldwell, Port Credit. 4-H HOMEMAKING CLUB MEETING On Friday, February 12th, 1965, the 4-H Homemaking Club was held at the home of Mrs. Bertha Hodge. The members present were Lynda Hoskin, Ros-anne Quinn, Marlene Chapman. Lorraine Chapman. Jean Harnden, Betty Ferguson and Valery Walsh. The leader is Mrs. Bertha Hodge, the assistant leader is .
