CARDS OF THANKS f would like to thank all those who remembered me with cards and telephone calls during my recent illness. A special thanks to the Bowes Co. ladies for.the lovely plant. Mrs. Keith Stimers CARD OF THANKS Dear friends: My very grateful thanks to you and to all who have helped me to my feet after a serious fall on icy streets in Cobourg last month. To unknowns in Cobourg who bore my weight, to Dr. Stobie, and the very efficient and kindly staff of the hospital, to all the friends in Colborne and elsewhere who have phoned or written or visited, to the Rev. E. S. Bull, who has moved with his family this week to Toronto to become Rector of St. Thomas Church, and very specially to those who day by day drove my wife to visit me in hospital. The whole experience was a very rich reward for my hard work during a whole winter some years ago in raising nearly $10,000 from Colborne folk to help build the new wing of the Cobourg General Hospital. Needless to say, they put me in the eldest part, Indeed in the only available bed. Dr. Stobie and the whole staff spoiled me outrageously, as they taught me -- the second time in eighty years or so -- to use my two feet. We can be very proud of, and grateful for, our hospital. Again, my thanks to all. Dates for March workshops were announced and several ladies volunteered to attend. Used clothing for a three or four year old boy is to be brought in not later than the end of April. Final arrangements for the Turkey Supper were completed. It was decided to insert a large ad in this week's Chronicle concerning the event. Mrs. Don Chatterson invited the UCW to her home for the March meeting. At the conclusion of the business session, an hour of worship and program was enjoyed. The hymn, 'God Reveals His Presence' was sung in unison. With the help of Mrs. Ralph Carman, Mrs. Thos. Everden and Mrs. George Peters, the program convener, Mrs. Jack Smith, introduced the study book, "God and His Purpose. Dramatic Bible reading, followed by buzz groups, proved effective. The worship period was closed by prayer by Mrs. Smith followed by the hymn, "Grant Us Thy Truth to Make Us Free". "The Way in Trinidad" was the theme of the programme. A flip-chart with true or false" answers proved to be educational as well as interesting. Readings taken from the study book on Trinidad were contributed by Mrs. Everden and Mrs. Carman. Trinidad's National. Anthem was played by Mrs. Ashbridge. Mrs. Peters expressed her appreciation to the program committee and also to our hostess. Rev. French closed the program with prayer. The delicious lunch was served by the hostess and members of Mrs. Harold Chatterson's group. We wish to express our sincere thanks to our many friends and relatives, old neighbours and new, who, by their lovely gifts, cards and presence contributed I so much to the very happy oc- f tasion of our golden wedding celebration. Special thanks to Mrs. Covert and members of the U.C.W.: members and officials of Cramahe Council and an extra special thank-you to Mrs. Nina Warner who gave so much of her time and support. Sincerely, Lily and Lome Darling, Castleton. I would like to thank my friends and neighbours for the lovely cards and gifts, also thanks to Dr. Shaw, Dr. Ford and nurses on the 2nd floor for the wonderful care they gave Richard and myself while in hospital. French was hostess to fifteen members of Salem UCW on Wednesday evening of last week. Mrs. George Peters was in charge of the meeting. For her opening thought, Mrs. Peters chose a poem entitled, "God and His Purpose". This was most appropriate since our worship service was based on the book, "God and His Purpose". With Mrs. Ashbridge at the piano, the hymn, "When All Thy Mercies, O My God," was sung Following the regular reports, i Mrs. William Brown gave a de-i tailed report on the days oil fellowship enjoyed by Salem I PREMIER J. ROBARTS UNVEILED PROJECT FOR EXPO 67 Premier John Robarts recently unveiled the $5,000,000 project which will tell the Ontario story when Expo 67 opens its doors to the world in 1967. The premier presented a 13-foot model of the Ontario pavilion at a special press preview at Queen's Park. Ontario's pavilion, 115 feet high and covering more than 2Vi acres, will be made of plastic, steel, wood and glass, landscaped with 60 foot trees and tons of granite, all drawn, forged, grown or quarried in Ontario. The pavilion will be located on the south side of the He Notre Dame at the Centennial site in the St. Lawrence River. Its bold, sweeping lines will present a pleasing contrast to the neighbouring buildings. A spokesman for the firm of Fairfield and Dubois, architects of the Ontario pavilion, said: "We had in mind a parkland area in contrast with the buildings surrounding it". Stewart and Morrison Ltd., the designers, are developing more than 50 separate exhibits to give visitors a graphic picture of Ontario -- past, present and future. A walk through the pavilion will lead a visitor past the exhibits, which will begin with a child's "world of wonders" and end with "ideas for new found leisure". A series of exhibits will explain the importance of industry, business, agriculture, natural resources and human ingenuity in making Ontario Canada's most wealthy province. they redecorating the interior of our church.
