COLBORNE SENIOR CITIZENS The Seniors meet each Wednesday in the Community Hall but seems as if we miss one meeting each year. The beginning of 1965, we missed owing to slippery sidewalks, and we decided to miss the September 28th meeting. Our old room is being re-decorated for a school room and we are getting a new room, and hope to be able to meet in it the first Wednesday in October. The entrance is at the back on the ground level. On August 25th a bus load left the hall at 9.30 a.m. and stopped at Lake-on-the-Moun-tahi for a picnic lunch, then crbssed on the ferry for an hour's shipping in Kingston, and on to Old Fort Henry, coming back on Highway 401 to Doves Restaurant for dinner. All home about 7.00 p.m with memories of a grand day. Our thanks to r. Glen Peacock for his kindness to us. Our President, Mrs. Hollinsworth, was one of 600 attending the 8th annual convention of the United Senior Citizens of Ontario (U.S.C.O.) the last two days of August at Carle-ton University, Ottawa. She brought back wonderful reports that the U.S.C.O. are doing for all Senior Citizens, those belonging and for those who do not. Foremost is the raise in the pension, and also tc have the school tax omitted from those owning their own homes, so they can afford to continue to live in said homes and are open to any suggestions for helping older folks to put in their time. Colborne Seniors are proud to be one of the 200 clubs, with a membership of 25,000. Thursday, September 29th, we are invited to a bazaar and afternoon tea that the Brighton Seniors are putting on, and on October 26th we are looking forward to an evening with the Evening Guild of Trinity Church. Thiss will be the third year they have entertained us, so our thanks to them. Then we hope for a grand opening in our new room in the near future.
