Unit 2 of Eden UCW held a dinner meeting in the hall Wednesday, March 1st, when 28 adults and 9 children enjoyed a delicious meal and a social afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Lyal Chapman attended the benefit dance in Colborne Legion Centre Saturday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ferguson and family, who lost their home by fire last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ken McGill and sons, Toronto, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Honeyy. Mrs. Jack Montgomery is spending a few days with Mrs, Verna Hadwen, Toronto. Mrs. Gordon Honey called on Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mutt on, Colborne, Sunday. Screaton of Ottawa. Mrs. James F. Palmer left by bus with 38 members of Colborne and Grafton Horticultural Society on Wednesday morning. They attended the Flower and Garden Show presented by the Garden Club of Toronto, held at the O'Keefe Centre. Mrs. Ella Moines and Mrs. Kay Clark of Cobourg called on Mrs. Isobel Puffer on Sat urday. Mr. and Mrs. M. Surano and children, Colborne, also called on Mrs. Puffer. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Spence, and Mr. Ron Spence, Oshawa, visited Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Spence and family, Sunday. Charles Hall participatted in the Bay of Quinte Curling Bonspiel held for several days during the weekend. Mr. Andrew Crawford spent the weekend with Mr, and Mrs. James Cooper, Weston. Mr. and Mrs. B. Trimble, Port Credit, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs JaThes McKenzie. SALEM by G. A. Smith Despite the fact that this Centennial year is filled to over-flowing with all kinds of entertainment, people must eat! The annual turkey dinner held at Salem United Church Sunday School Hall on Wednesday evening, March 1st, proved to be as popular as ever. The task of serving a hot dinner for 300 persons requires a great deal of team work. The Social Committee of Salem U.C.W. is grateful to all who helped in any way to make this event a successful enterprise. Mr. and Mrs. Art Bailey and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Don Douglas and family at Cobourg on Sunday evening. Mrs. Ross Simpson and boys spent a recent weekend with her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Loyst at Scarborough. Mrs. Harry Stickle of Ed-ville joined Salem U.C.W. at the February gathering at the home of Rev. and Mrs. R. W. French. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith and family spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hayes and girls at Cobourg. Sincere sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. George Westrope and family in the loss of his mother, who passed away last week. Interment was at Salem Cemetery on Saturday aftter Master Devon Winkworth of Cobourg spent the weekend with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs". Wm. Brown. Salem Hi-C members and their counsellors met at the Sunday School Hall last Friday yevening after an hour of skating at Brighton Arena. Lunch consisted of hot milk and apple pie. Regular meeting of this group is scheduled for this Friday evening at the Sunday School Hall. Randy Beale of Colborne spent last week with his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brown and Troy. Salem U.C.W. and their husbands are invited to attend an inter-church social evening at Colborne United Church on Sunday evening, March 12th, 1967. (continued) Vera Haley and seconded bby Mrs. Draper to send a donation of ten dollars to the Sacred Heart radio program. The next meeting will take place at the home of Kathleen McPherson on April 3rd. The meeting was adjourned bby Nellie Pendergast and the closing prayers were said in unison. Then followed a social hour with a dainty lunch served. by the hostess, assisted by Nellie Pendergast and Christine Wood.
