THE FENCES ARE COMING DOWN -- This is the title of a one-hour TV educational program to .be viewed 10.30 to 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9th. The prog "-in deals with dairy cattle. Outlined are some of the good sound principles in breeding, feeding, housing, herd (health, and the management required to tie all 'these together. Also illustrated for dairymen are changes which have occurred during the past twenty years and the part research and technology will play in future dairy ealttfle management. NO SACRED COWS -- This is the educational TV program for Wednesday, January 10th, 10.30 to 111.30 a.m. It is a critical look taken at Ontario's beef cow-calf operations and the need for supplies of stockefcrs and feeders, "Must Factors" include breeding, feeding, housing and management based on actual on-farm practices, supported by today's research are reviewed. BEEF IMPROVEMENT -- The Northumberland Beef Improvement Association will meet for its Annual Meeting on Wednesday, January 10th, at 10,30 ajm., at the Agricultural Service Centre in Brighton. The first item on the program will be to view the special TV beef program. Guest speaker, in the afternoon, will be Dr. Myron Mills of Eastern Breeders' Inc. All Northumberland (Beef farmers are invited to this spelcial meeting. A BEATS C -- This is the title of the special swine educational progarm to be viewed on Thursday, January 11th, 10.30 to 11.30 a.m. The program examines the 'Jigsaw Puzzle' of success in swine farming. The pieces in the puzzle, breeding feeding, housing and health are held together by good management. The film depicts good practices in each area and sets forth the necessity of getting better before getting bigger. FARM ACCOUNT BOOKS -- Farmers wishing to obtain the Ontario Farm Actoount Book 'may do so from the Ontario Department of Agriculiture in Brighton. Those who have completed their 1967 books and would like to have an analysis on their farm business may do so by leaving last year's book at the office in Brighton. The book is designed to give farmers 'management in formation so that they may base decisions on past operations. The book is also suitable 'and acceptable for records for Income Tax purposes. SAFETY SURVEY -- Northumberland was one of the ten counties in Ontario participating in a Farm Accident survey in 1967. Farm accident reporters were appointed in each section or area witRin the county. These people will be completing ^heir reports of Seven any accidents which happened in their area during the year, and forwarding them through their Township tsupervisors for statistical analysis. With each county participating in a survey every five years, it is possible to determine whether or mot the number and types of farm accidents are increasing changing or decreasing. We hope 'that all accidents wdhch 'happened on (the farm or to farm people are reported for this statistical analyysis. FAIR GAME Despite the fact that a toy poodle is now milady's pampered pet, it was once an English hunting dog. (/ Health \ Insurance 1 Registration I v Board / If you have either Ontario Medical Services Insurance Plan (OMSIP)orOntaTlo Hospital Insurance (OHI)you will soon be hearing of the Health Insurance Regfstration Board (HIRB). The Health Insurance Registration Board has been set up by the Province to act as an agency for both OMSIPand Ontario Hospital Insurance. HIRB will be the central registration office which will handle enrollment, billings and premium collections, and answer inquiries about Ontario's medical or hospital Insurance plans. OMSIP and Ontario Hospital Insurance will continue to provide their present coverage. The only difference is that, from now on, when you see HIRB, you'll know it means the Health Insurance Registration Board is serving you on behalf of Ontario's health insurance plans.
