Mrs. Latimer deserves, the heartfelt thanks of the committee for her work during the past year. She has spent countless hours at the Town Hall sorting out the equipment, cleaning up the clutter in ■ the cupboards which has been accumulated over the years, a-lomg with her help in all the projects undertaken by the Recreation Committee. A special' vote of thanks should also foe meted out to Mr. George Blyth for his untiring efforts connected with his work as Director of Recreation. Former air^orce padre, the Rev. C. A. McLaren, officiated. The church was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees-, poinsettias and candles. Given in marriage by her step-father, the bride entered' the Church to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march played by Mrs. Lenna Baker of Brighton. The guest soloist, Mr. Bruce Haynes sang two selections, "How Great Thou Art"' and "The Lord's Prayer". The bride's floorlength, white wedding dress was of peau-de-soie and lace, with high scalloped neckline, empire bodice, long lily point sleeves and detachable peau-de soie train with wide lace. Mr. Victor, our very proficient band master, then reported the progress of the band. There will be eighteen members consisting of cornets, horns, trombones, baritones and drums along with a drum corps of six drummers with Pete Koomen as instructor. In addition, pprepparations are under way to form a Oolborne Citizens' band. Also musical instruction is under way for the age group nine and ten in a recorder band. That will give the town a band in every age group. There will be also the baton groups. A junior group undder the■■ leadership of Marg Lynn, which holds practices in the Town Hall on Tuesday afternoons at 4.30 and a senior group with Karen Van Meeuwen as instructor who have their practice at the Town Hall on Wednesdays at 4.30. Anyone wishing to join any of these groups should apply to the leader of the group in which they are interested or to George Blyth. Plans are under way for a huge Winter Carnival which will take lace some time in February. Watch the Colborne Chronicle for further announcements of this event.
