Mr Lome Darling had an operation at Cobourg hospital on Thursday. Mr., Mrs Earl Darling, Victoria are visiting her parents Mr., Mrs L. Darling. Mrs. Iva Cross, Toronto visited Mrs F Prout, Wednesday Mr Wm. Covert is quite ill again with pneumonia, but is improving. Mrs S F Mallory, Toronto visited Mr., Mrs Gerald Welton on the weekend and attended Cemetery Decoration services. Mrs W Dickson visited Mr., Mrs C Inglis, Sunday. Mr., Mrs A Young, Hamilton and Mrs Pauline Neilson, Toronto spent the weekend at the Youngs home here entertaining quite a number of guests for dinner after Decoration service. Insurance For Schools Is Undecided After a lengthy discussion among Counties Board of Education, J. Gordon and J. Kerr of Insurance Agents' Association; and B. Bird, Commercial Insurance Specialist with a representative of the co-op insurance agency, R. Lillie, the matter was referred on June 12 to a meeting "in committee" for discussion by Board members. The question is insuring of the 84 schools in Northumberland and Durham on one policy. Two agencies have applied. Insurance Agents' Association submitted an annual premium of $22,944 and co-op insurance agency submitted $22,210 annually. School Bus Operators Challenged Garnet Whltfiled and Gordon Sherwin will attend Department of Transport hearing in Toronto, June 20, on the matter of charter bus privileges. Counties Board solicitor and Bruce Lester, supervisor of transportation, will also attend. School bus operators are being challenged on right to take students on long trips. COLBORNE PERSONALS Mr., Mrs E Magee anC son Jimmy of Toronto spent a few days with her aunt Mrs Maude Kirk A family picnic will be held at premises ot Mr., Mrs Les Fontaine and family, Parliament St. on June 29 Local' Youth Killed Larry Barchuk, Castleton lost his life when the plane he was travelling in to Labrador crashed.
