- This hotel was named the Hotel Bristol at one time.

"Standing in front of the group is my father Captain William J. Troop from Cobourg who was sent to Colborne in 1916 to train a detachment of soldiers for the 139th Infantry Battalion , Canadian Expeditionary Force CEF.
The Battalion was headquartered in Cobourg and the men were recruited in Northumberland County.
The Battalion left for England on September 25,1916." - Notes
