The flowers on side 0f the pulpit were in memory ot the late Mrs Myrtle Montgomery, placed there by her daughter, Mrs Thomas Everden. Rev. R M Sweeney of Castleton and Grafton was assisted by Rev. R W French. Mrs Ron Peters, Colborne was pianist. Mr. Bruce Haynes, Brighton assisted in the choir and contributed the solo, '11 I have wounded any soul todaj.' The full choir sang, 'Does Jesus Care?'. Service at Salem United 9.30 a.m. , Nov. 16, under direction of Mission and Service Comm. A special speaker will assist Rev. French. Mrs Archie Bellamy was guest soloist at the W.I. meeting at Norwood, Tuesday. Mrs Jack Smith represented Salem at Mission and Service meeting at Colborne United DOVES TAVERN - RESTAURANT Colborne - 355-2335 Entertainment & Dining FBI- and SAT. 9 p.m. -1 a.m. Church, Tuesday. Little Norma Westbrook of East Salem entertained classmates at her home, Friday. Seventeen ladies, of Salem Recreation Club enjoyed dinner at British Hotel, Cobourg. Thursday then attended 'The Odd Couple at Cobourg Opera House Mr. John Winkworth (son in law of Mr., Mrs Wm. Brown), was one of the actors. , Over 75 children and parents attended Salem S.S. Hall, Thursday for the annual Hallowe'en party. Mistress of ceremonies, Jill Fenaughty (Pres. Salem Hi-C) was assisted by group leader Susan Smith. Judges were Mrs Cecil Bellamy, Mrs Jack Smith and Mrs Sydney Pearson. Age groups were well represented. AM Kindergarten received a prize. Awards went to Jaqueline Peacock, Ford Arthur, Shari Knapp, Brian Rath, Donna Bain and Karen Scott. Also Gail Scott, Raymond Van Wicklin, Mrs George Peters, Mrs Jim Brown and Mrs Bernard Knapp. A program of active games was led by Jill Fenaughty. Refreshments were Donuts and lemonade. Mr. Glen Peacock attended the Market Board meeting at Peterborough, Thursday. Salem folk welcome Mr., Mrs David Smart. They have moved into the house in North Salem formerly occupied by Mr., Mrs Akey. Mr., Mrs C D Burley and boys, Concord visited her mother Mrs Ada Smith Sunday. Congratulations to Mr. Ian Watkins, RR4, Cobourg who received his BA at Kitchener Sunday. Nov. 2. He is a son in law of Mr., Mrs Frank Jones, Colborne. Misses Kathryn Bellamy, Susan Smith and Darlene Davis represented Salem at the Hi-C supper at Colborne, Sunday. Mr Charles Buchanan, Codri-ngton and little Devon Wink-worth, Cobourg were Sunday guests of Mr., Mrs Wm. Brown. Mrs John Fennaughty was hostess for the October meeting of Salem UCW Wednesday. News Of SHIL0H Mr., Mrs Lawrence Mutton were Tuesday supper guests of Miss Wendy Mutton, Peterboro. Miss Wendy Mutton, was home for the weekend. Mr., Mrs Lawrence Mutton were weekend guests of Mr., Mrs J L McMurray and also visited Mr., Mrs Michael Mutton Peterborough. COLBORNE PERSONALS Mr,,' Mrs Donald Upton and family, Wellington, Mr., Mrs Bruce Simpson and family, of Cobourg celebrated on Sunday. Deborah Simpson's and Cheryl Upton's birthday both on October 29. Also Elvin Upton of Queens University, Kingston who had his birthday October 10, also with grandparents Mr., Mrs Gordon Munro. Mr. Harold Carter has returned home to High River, Alberta after attending the funeral of his father, Mr. Harry Carter. Lakeport Community Club The Lakeport Community Club held their regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs John Nelson. In the absence ol the president, Vice pres. Cora Raed presided. Secretarys and Trea-urers and Sunshine teports were read by Flossie Peebles, Patricia Bodis and Viva May, seconded by Mrs Unwin, Helen Rose and Doris Hall. Get well cards were signed by members to be sent to Mrs. Calberry, Colborne, Fred Darling and Mrs Miriam Muldrew, Lakeport. A Happy Birthday was sung for Beatrice Waller. The Travelling prize was won by Mabel Unwin. It was decided to have a draw for a turkey at Christmas. The Lord's Prayer said in unison closed the business session. The remainder of the evening was spent playing Bingo with prizes for winners. Lunch was served by the hostess and convenors, Shirley Carey and Helen Rose. Program arranged by Viva May and Patricia Bodis. Thanks were given Mrs Nelson for a pleasant evening.
