Covert were New Year visitors of Mr. and Mrs. V. Miller, Cobourg. On Wednesday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Don Peebles had a surprise party for Mr. and Mrs. Sid Peebles. It was their four-tieth anniversary and over forty friends and relatives attended. A mock wedding was enjoyed and euchre was played. The couple were presented with a lovely chair and step up table and other gifts. A decorated cake was served with the lovely lunch. Mr. Andrew Wolfraim returned on Saturday from a week's visit with Mr. and Mrs. Young Hamilton. Rev. L. Lovering and family spent New Years in Toronto with Mrs. Lovering's family. Mrs. Lovering remained with her babies as her father in confined to the hospital there. Master George Tait has been ill all through the holidays but improved. Mr. Bert Bowen of Peterborough was home for the weekend. Master Timmy Lewis of Port Hope spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. George Squire. Mr. and Mrs. D. Dingwall, Jr., itertained their families on New Years. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Black and family, Toronto, were New Year visitors of Mr. and Mrs. T. Black. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mills, Colborne, called on Mr. and Mrs. Dean Chapman on Saturday eve-Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Hoare and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Pearson and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jackson. Salem, on Sunday. Miss Nellie and Hugh Mutton, Shiloh, and Mr. and Mrs. John Purdy, Milton, called on Mrs. Dean Chapman last Monday.
