Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stickle, Mrs. Lome McDonald and Mrs. John Cochrane were to Belleville, Monday, and Mrs." McDonald and Mrs. Cochrane visited Mrs. Reddick in the hospital and found her slightly improved ire pleased to hear. Scouts To Hold Father And Son Banquet in February The Colborne Scout Group Committee held their monthly meeting on Monday, January 11, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Grosjean. Those present were: Alf Dove, committee chairman; Howard Grosjean, transportation chair-; Jim Small, Rover Leader; Pepper Martin, Cub Leader; Norman Walpole, Scout Leader; Bill Harrison, publicity chair-; Al Learmonth, chairman of badge committee; Paul Island, >tant Scout leader and Mrs. Island of the Mother's Auxiliary. It was decided to hold a irurch parade during Scout Week, February 7th to 14th. The church parade will be held on Sunday, February 7th, at the United Church. Norman Walpole was instructed to contact Rev. F. W. Taylor for his okay to make arrangements to meet in the Sunday School Hall due to weather conditions. Mrs. Island is to contact the leaders of the Girl Guides and Brownies and inform them of the parade. The annual Father and Son Banquet was discussed at length and it was decided to hold it on Monday, February 8th, in the Legion Centre with the Mother's Auxiliary to cater. Jim Small was instructed to make arrangements for a guest speaker for this occasion. ; It was decided to hold a window decorating contest during Scout Week. Norm Walpole and Jim Small were left in charge of this contest. Mrs. Grosjean served a licious lunch and was thanked by all of those present. Next committee meeting will be held at the home of Mr. Al. Learmonth on Monday, February 15th. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Thank you letters were read Mrs. T. McDonald gave the Treasurer's summary for 1959. Yearly reports were also given by various convenors and committees. The hostesses for the coming year's meetings were arranged. Plans were made for the Valentine Tea on Saturday, February 13th, from 3 to 5.30 p.m. th the Tiny Tot Fashion Parade at 4 p.m. Mrs. E. Thompson then read two interesting letters from her nephew, Rev. Hugh Becking, in Angola. The meeting closed with prayer by Mr. Taylor. . , Hustlers Auxiliary of Colborne United Church W.A. For the opening, meeting of the year, a pot l.uck supper was held January 6th, in the Sunday School Hall. • Following a delicious meal at 7 p.m., the meeting opened with the Theme Hymn. President, Mrs. E. Thompson, welcomed those present, wishing all a Happy New Year. Mr. Taylor conducted the Installation Ceremony for the 1960 slate of officers which is as follows: Teacher, Mrs. E. Quinn; President, Mrs. E. Thompson; Vice President, Mrs. T. McDonald; Secretary, Mrs. B. Griffith: Treasurer, Mrs. T. McDonald; Pianist, Mrs. W. Irvine; Assistant Pianist, Mrs. F. Taylor; Sunshine Convenor, Mrs. C. Ferguson; Missionary Convenor, Mrs. Ross Teal; Associate W.M.S. Secretary, Mrs. K. Redner. Group Leaders are: Mrs. W. Williams and Mrs. G. Knapp, Mrs. G. McKay and Mrs. G. Smith, Mrs. A. Dale and Mrs. G. Moore, Mrs. W .Baxter and Mrs. K. Redner. Hymn 172, "O God Our Help in Ages Past" was sung, after which Mrs. J. Davis read the Scripture from Romans 3:13-14. She then gave the Meditation entitled "The New Year". Mr. Taylor closed . the Devotional with prayer. . E. Broomfield The following were chosen to act as a committee to make plans, Gertie Smith, Mildred Knapp, Audrey Davis, Dora Barnes, Bernice Brown and Anne Hutchings. The lunch is to be pot luck and each member is asked to bring two dishes, (one for the main course and one for the dessert.) Each member is to bring their husband and also invite another couple. A half hour of games followed by a tasty lunch brought and the evening to a close. Salem Ladies' Recreation Club Mrs. L. Dore was hostess to the Salem Ladies' Recreation Club last Thursday evening. There was a splendid attendence despite a stormy evening. Mrs. Ruth Fenaughty opened the meeting on behalf of the President Mrs. Jack Smith, after which the Secretary- Trea- irer and Sunshine reports Plans were made for the annual party which is to he held on February 4, at 8 p.m. the Legion Hall, Brighton.
