Mr. and Mrs. Robert Otto and family are leaving Belleville in the near future to reside at Thamesford, Ontario, where Bob will assume his new duties as C.P.R. Agent at that point. Flying Officer Chas. McGee of Winnipeg, Manitoba, spent Wednesday evening and Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Peebles and family. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Peebles attended the Safety Drivers' Banquet at the Genosha Hotel in Oshawa on Saturday. Mr. Peebles was presented with his 1959 Safety Driver's Badge. Mr. Gerry Maxwell of Weston called on Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Nobes on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Steele and daughter, Elin, of Ottawa visited Mrs. Steele's parents over the week-end. Show Miss Joyce Daniels and Mr. ;d Brooks of Peterborough spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Nobes and family. ACHIEVEMENT DAY On Saturday, March 19th, a successful Achievement Day was held for Northumberland Home-making Club girls for the project "Dressing UP Home Grown Vegetables" at the High School Brighton. 128 girls exhibited record book and a properly packed school lunch. They spent the morning judging a class of menus, a class of school lunches giving reasons August. Of course, the idea is for their placing and doing menu planning for four days in for them to practise making sure the Food Guide for health is followed and that good colour and variety are achieved through plentiful use of vegetables, many of which can be home grown. This project worked in so well with last summer's garden project and should make the girls even more interested in growing a garden next summer as about 130 of them are planning to do. An interesting aftern, .on programme of exhibits and demonstrations by each club gave the girls further training and reviewed the information given in the project. rs. T. M. Gresham, East Northumberland District President presented gifts on behalf of the district to Colleen Nichols of Wooler who has achieved Provincial Honours, after many years of diligent work. County Honour girls in East Northumberland are Helen McGregor, Castieton; Sandra Cummings, Community; Ruth Nelson, Percy; Beverly Brown and Diane McGee, * Seymour West; Sharon Rogers and Suzanne Yonge, York Road. Mrs. Robert Vout, District President of West Northumberland, expressed best wishes and presented gifts to Eleanor Harper of Elmview, Florence Wal-die of Grafton and Annie Klein Nienhuis of Wicklow-Vernonville. Mrs. Clifford Gillespie, Pro-ncial Board member, also expressed congratulations and encouragement to the girls and Mrs. John Whitehouse, Secretary of the Scholarship Committee for the Northumberland County Ontario W.I.
