Page Six THE COLBORNE CHRONICI.F.. Thursday. February 25th, 1960 ROTARY Dundonald Night In spite of unfavourable weather, thirteen members and three visitors, Russ Manning, Cobourg; Stephen Tripp, Belleville; Miss Gloria Akinenzie, District Nurse, C.C. Society, managed to make the trip and were far from being disappointed. The ladies of the W.A. of the church provided an excellent repast for the forty odd guests which included many friends from Colborne and the Dund6nald district. President George was in fine form and in spite of Bruee's protest, handled things in excellent manner. Several musical numbers by Mr. Sills of Campbellford accompanied by his daughter, were thoroughly enjoyed. Prizes were drawn by Miss Akinenzie who managed to spread her good fortune over many of the guests as well as Rotarians. George provided little gifts for each guest. Bruce then introduced our guest speaker, Stephen Tripp of the Belleville Club who gave us a very graphic and impressive address on the work of the Crippled Children's Society. He illustrated his talk by a number of slides showing the Society at work both at the Children's Centres and at the Summer Camps. Stephen gave a boost to the Easter Seal Campaign by pointing out that this work could not go on without the support of the many Service Clubs in the province and to the thousands of individuals who contributed to their Easter Seal campaigns. Not one cent of these monies would go into the new buildings being erected in North York at a cost of over $4,000,000 all of which had now been raised by donations from companies, individuals and the Provincial Government. This was a very timely talk, presented in an unusual manner and gave our guests a clearer insight into the work "we are trying to do in Rotary. Bill j Smithers thanked the speaker. Our thanks are due to Bruce' Spencer for arranging such a splendid evening and to the ladies of Dundonald for their' co-operation. Ed. Rimmer suit-' ably expressed our thanks to I them. Jim Chapin then thanked Miss Akinenzie for joining us on j this occasion and presented her with a gift in appreciation of the work she is doing. This Week The Colborne Rotary Club met at the Queen's Hotel for their regular weekly meeting on Monday, February 22nd, at 6.30 p.m. The meeting was opened with Rotary Grace and singing the Oueen. During dinner, Alf. Dove led in a sing-song accompanied by Mrs. Lloyd Deegan. at the piano. President George read the correspondence which he had received during the week, among this correspondence was a letter from the District Governor showing that we were five from the bottom in attendance. We have to improve fellows. It was moved by Chas. Wood that our Club donate $25.00 to the Rotary Foundation.
