Oke The flowers placed in the Church on Sunday last were in loving memory of Mrs. David Orrock and Mr. John Davidson Within the past three weeks four families in this community have been bereaved. The sudden passing of Mr. Fred Clarke, and since going to press last week, Mr. John Davidson passed away Wednesday morning, March 30th, in General Hospital, Cobourg. Mrs. John Killen, mother of Mrs. John O'Rourke passed away in St. Joseph's Hospital, Peterboro, after a lengthy illness. Sunday morning the community was shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Mr. Frank Flanders. Deepest sympathy is extended to all berea- Mrs. Ivan Flanders, Messrs. J. Muldew, M. Sharpe, C. All-corn attended the funeral of Mr. John Davidson at Jex and Smith Funeral Home in Port Hope on Saturday afternoon. Salvation Army Captain of Port Hope conducted the service. Interment was in Port Hope Cem-etary. Mr. and Mrs. John Woodruff Toronto, visited Mr. Charles Allcorn on Sunday. Mrs. Winnifred Robinson, Mr. John Russell and son Randy, Mrs. Russell Sr. spent a few hours Sunday at Mrs. Robinson's home, "Road End." Mrs. Robinson has been spending the winter months in Toronto. Mrs. Jim McKenzie returned from Toronto on Friday with Mr. McKenzie, after spending a couple of weeks at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. B. Trimble. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hall and family spent Sunday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hie, Cobourg. The occasion being a dinner party in honour of Mrs. Hie's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. N. Host and Mrs. A. Horvath, Toronto spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. D. Wasylyk and Mr. and Mrs. Eric Palmer. Miss Marion Peebles, Highland Creek, visited her mother Mrs. George Peebles a couple of days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Peebles accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Buchanan, Colborne, attended Ladies Night, held by Masonic Lodges of Port Hope in Masonic Temple Saturday evening last. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Tapley, Ricky and Wayne spent Sunday with her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Nesbitt. Three year old Steven Nesbitt had just returned home from hospital after suffering a very painful injury, having had his arm caught in the wringer on the electric Several ladies from Colborne and Lakeport met at the home of Mrs. D. Peebles on Monday of last week for a Pot Luck dinner and quilting bee. The quilt is for Ladies Aid of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. Mr. and Mrs. R. Joice and son Terry visited on Sunday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Joice, Balti- Mr. andflMrs.] Warier Lums-den, Midffod Called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. Peebles Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Len Turk and boys, Vernonville visited Mr. and Mrs. R. Joice on Saturday. Monday visitor was Mr. Jack Archer, Grafton. A very good crowd turned out for "Open House" at Lake-port Elementary School Friday evening last. After the pupils work had been viewed and comments passed, the remainder of the evening was spent in playing euchre. Prize winners were, Miss Gail Kirton, lone hands; Mr. Ivan Buchanan, high score. A lovely lunch was very nicely served by the Senior girls assisted by one of pre-school age, Joanie May. Mr. Ivan Flanders extended a vote of thanks to all who attended and to the teachers, Mrs. I. Buchanan and Mrs. J. Cowie for the extra work in connection with Open House, and to all who helped in any way to make such a lovely evening possible. Mrs. Buchanan, on behalf of Mrs. Cowie and herself offered sincere thanks to the parents for attending and showing such an interest in the childrens progress. j MOUNT PLEASANT Mrs. Carrie Bambridge has returned home after spending the winter months in Le Roy, New York. Mrs. Charles Gordonier of Bonarlaw spent a couple of days visiting her father, Mr. Wilbert Bradley and Miss Mabel Bradley. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McComb atended the Nelson-Corneilius wedding in Warkworth on Saturday, April 2nd. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dingwall of Toronto were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Dingwall, Sr. Miss Ethel McKague has returned to her home in Bow-manville after spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. John McKague and Jim. Mrs. H. Ducie of Castleton was hostess to the Cramahe Baptist Mission Circle on Wednesday, March 30th at 8.30 p.m. and despite mud, rain and fog all members were in attendance, also Rev. C. K. Dolby and Mrs. G. Papineau and Kevin. President, Mrs. Norman Fit-chett, opened the meeting with an Easter Devotional reading. Hymn 86 was sung and scripture was read by Mrs. John McKague, Mark 16, verses 1-15. Mrs. Moran Grills closed the devotional period with prayer. Secretary, Mrs. Henry Kempt read the minutes and called the roll. Treasurer, Mrs. D. R. Dingwall, Sr., gave a report Link and Vistitor agent, Mrs. W. Hatches, asked us to try and arrange to pay our subscriptions in Augifst to save time and expense. Special Indian Fund collection for home mission work was taken by Mrs. Dingwall. Our Circle was asked to quilt a quilt but all members felt it would not be convenient at this time. Mrs. John McKague gave Study Book chapter. Mrs. Sid Peebles was programme convener and opened with verses 1 and 3 of hymn 100. Easter readings were given by Mrs. Henry Kemp, Mrs. Don Ducie, Mrs. Don Peebles, Mrs. S. Peebles. Rev. Dolby closed with prayer. Lunch was served by Mrs. H. Ducie and Mrs. G. Papineau. Mr. and Mrs. Don Ducie, Margie, Gwen and Wayne, were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Massey. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Harren, Vaughn, Bruce and Loreen, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Poole, Hastings. AGRICULTURAL NEWS Last week Dave Crone, O.F.A. Fieldman and Doug Johnston,' President, N.F.A.. met with a group of farmers on Highway 45 in the Hastings area to help inform the farmers on how to get a fair settlement for their property that is being used for the widening and construction of Highway 45. No action was taken at the meeting but the Federation of Agriculture told the farmers they could expect any help that was available at both the provincial and county On April 1st Mrs. A. J. Cal-nan and Mrs. D. C. Johnston represented N.F.A. Insurance Committee meeting and luncheon at the King Edward, Toronto.
