Mr. and Mrs. Melford Gum-mer and family returned to Bagotville, Quebec, on Saturday after a week's visit with Mrs. H. Welton. Mr. John Bowen is not very good. He had a fall and is laid up. The family, numbering 25, of Mr. and Mrs. David Dingwall, Sr., entertained them Friday evening with a dinner the Chateau Hotel in Cobourg. It being the occasion of their 40th wedding anniversary, later returning to the home of Mr, Mrs. D. Dingwall, Jr., where with other relatives and neighbours the party continued. Presentations were made of an electric blanket from the family, flowers, jewelry, china and other gifts. A lovely lunch was Mr. Chas. Leach passed away at his home here on Monday following a heart attack. Funeral service was held at Port Credit on Thursday with interment at Clarkson. Mr. L. Naish, Mr. Ron Chapman and Mr. Jack Naish were at the funeral. Mrs. Leach will return to her home here for awhile. Mrs. W. Turney, Mrs. S. Peebles, Mrs. D. Ducie, Mrs. H. Welton and Mrs. F. Warner attended the summary day for "Sew to Save Dollars and make Sense" at Brighton on Wednesday afternoon sponsored by the W.I. Mrs. G. Walker entertained a number of ladies on Friday afternoon at a birthday party for Mrs. Don Gillespie. The Community Club held a ?l:?-S.Lessivp VucKrc at the Mrs. W. Beatty and Gordon, Trenton, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Warner. Peggy Warner went home with them r a week's vacation. Mr. Art Pomeroy, Toronto, is home for the week-end.
