Just phone your news items to 44, The Colborne Chronicle. Mr. and Mrs. Max Bevan and family, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Waller and Beatrice spent Sunday in Bowmanville with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Waller. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Spencer and baby, Gordon, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Teal at their cottage at Little Lake. Miss Mavis Stickle visited hpr mother, Mrs. George Stickle, fpr the week-end. Mr. Fred Hawkins was in London over the week-end to wish his sister, Mrs. Frank Worrell, Bon Voyage. She and Mr. Worrell left to spend the summer in England and early autumn on the Continent. Mr. A. V. Light, Sr., spent a few days last week in Port Calling with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Light, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Boyd, Port Perry, called on Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harrison and Kim on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Irwin and Micheal, Toronto, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. George Moore and Jane. Saturday visitors were Mr. Dan Dudley and Gordon of Bowmanville. Miss Jean Chamberlain, Toronto, and Mrs. J. F. Haynes spent a few days in Boston, Mass. Mr. Paul Haynes returned home with them and will spend the summer in Toronto. Sunday guests of Mrs. Kate! Dulmage were Mr. Donald Smith, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs: T. Duff and family, Hastings, Mr. and Mrs. J. Thorpe, Toronto, and Mr. and Mrs. Rex McCall and family of Castleton. Miss D o r e e n McCracken, R.N., Belleville, and Mr. David Sparrow, Trenton, spent the week-end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Almonte McCracken. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Steele and daughter, Elin, Ottawa, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. N. S. MeNally. Mrs. George Latimer, Mrs. Gladys Hart and Mrs. Bill Harrison attended a community shower for Miss Lorraine Hart in Grafton Town Hall on Friday evening. In last week's issue two names were omitted of those receiving certificates for First Aid. They Were Mr. Cecil Nobes and Mr. George Fletcher. . Week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Dale were Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Brown, Peterborough, Mrs. C. W. Rice of Cornwall, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Mutton, Bowmanville. Miss Marjorie Muskett spent the week-end with Mrs. H. Wood of Oshawa. Miss Maude Connors spent Wednesday at a Chief Operators' Meeting at the Empress Hotel Peterborough. Correction: In Lakeport Decoration Day Service it should have read: Rev. J. A. Roifey took as his Theme "The Life We Live Now May Determine Our Hereafter", St. John, Chapter 16. Mrs. Harry Rush is a patient in Trenton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Percy Smith, Colborne, spent the week-end with her daughter, Mrs. Lyle Chapman, Mr. Chapman and family, Dundonald. Mr. and Mrs. Burle Summers of Corbyville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Campbell. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Guthrie, Jr., of Toronto spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lee. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Sabins and son of Cobourg spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lee. Mr, and Mrs. Clancy Shier and Penny of Trenton called on Mrs. S. Ball and other relatives on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Summers and family of Oshawa called on Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Summers on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Smith, Whitby, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. Irish. Honoured At Shower On Friday evening in the Town Hall, Grafton, a bridal shower was held for Miss Lorraine Hart, daughter of Mrs. Gladys Hart of Colborne, and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. George McCracken, Grafton. After an hour of cards, Mrs. Harriet Anderson made the presentation on behalf of the group, assisted by Misses Mary Anderson, Jane Boyle, Judy Konch, Donna Harnden. Lorraine was assisted with the unwrapping of her gifts by Mrs. J. Minifie and Miss Joan Harnden. Lorraine then thanked the group of about 50 people for the lovely gifts of linen and china with several pieces of stainless steel kitchen ware. A delightful lunch was served of fancy sandwiches, dainty cookies and party cakes. Hustlers Auxiliary On June 2, the Hustlers Auxiliary met at the Thompson Cottage at Little Lake. President Mrs. E. Thompson opened the meeting with the W. A. Motto which was followed by singing the Theme Hymn in unison. Mrs. Thompson then read a very fitting poem entitled "Building." After welcoming those present, the President turned the meeting over to Mrs. G. Smith for the Devotional ,who used as her theme "Holidays and Vacation." Mrs. J. R. Davis read the Scripture from Isaiah 40: 28-31 and Matthew 12: 43-45. Hymn 43, "Day is Dying In the West," was followed by the Meditation by Mrs. G. Smith, concluding with prayer. The Devotional closed with Hymn 27, "Breathe on Me Breath of God." The minutes were read and approved. A thank you note was received from Mrs. John Davis. Plans were made to assist the Sunday School with the Picnic which will be held on Wednesday, June 29, at Little Lake. Further plans were made for donations to Five Oaks. Mrs. G. Smith opened the programme by reading a true-to-life poem on "Little Boys." Mrs. Taylor read a chapter from the Study Book. The programme concluded with a contest. Mrs. T. McDonald expressed thanks to our hostess Mrs. Thompson, who in turn thank-fed Mrs. Smith for the programme and Mrs. W. Baxter's group for the lunch. The meeting closed with the Theme Prayer.
