For the first time in Canada farmers will be able to get their soil tested for nitrogen. On making the announcement, Professor T. J. Heeg of the ■O.A.C. Soils Department said: The old test showed us how much nitrogen was in the soil at the time the soil sample was aken. The next test will show is how much nitrogen the soil will release during the next few months." The new nitrogen test prom-es to save Ontario farmers money on their fertilizer bill, said Professor Heeg. His reasoning: when you know how much hitrogen is needed for a goqd. crop and how much is in the soil, you will be able to figure out how much extra nitrogen is needed. If you want to get your soil tested for nitrogen, use these precautions. 1. Mail your samples within 3 days of sampling to make sure they arrive at the laboratory before they dry out. C 2.
