THE COLBORNE CHRONICLE, Thursday, July 7th, I960 LAKEPORT by Mrs. R. Oke (Intended for last week) During the month of July there will be no services in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. Our minister, Rev. W. E. Sayers, will be on vacation. During the service on Sunday morning Marguerite and Carol Irvine were presented with choir pins. The Junior Choir members are very proud to wear their choir pin and each Sunday their selection is very well rendered. Anyone wishing to join this group will be most welcome. Everyone reported a splendid time at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church Sunday School picnic held at Shelter Valley Park, Saturday, June 25th. There were different sport and the children received lots of prizes, also had fun swimming. There w thirty or more present and all enjoyed the tasty supper. Thanks to the Sunday School teachers and all who helped in any way to make it such a happy afternoon. The supervised playground will open Monday, July 4th, at Lakeport Elementary School and will be held Monday to Friday inclusive until August 5th, from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 and from 1.00 to 3.30 p.m., under the supervision of Miss Gail Peebles, Colborne. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Pettibone spent Sunday with relatives in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Chestnut and daughters, Shirley and i Mary visited Mr. and Mrs. Val Unwin on Sunday. An air mail letter to Mrs. Ivan Flanders and friends written June 21st, was received June 26th from Miss Georgina Cole, Swaziland, South Africa, expressing thanks and appreciation for parcels sent to her for Easter. They arrived during the week after Easter, all in excellent condition. Mr. and Mrs. G. Nelson, Port Hope, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Palmer. Mr. Joe Wasylyk and daughter, Joanne, Toronto, were recent visitors at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wasylyk. Mrs. Wasylyk returned to Toronto with her son for a few Ten ladies of Lakeport Community Club were guests of Castleton Community Club on Tuesday evening, June 21st, at the Orange Hall, Castleton. The President, Mrs. Wm. Harber welcomed the visitors. The meeting opened and was carried out in the usual manner. The prize for a draw was won by Mrs. Blake Moore. The evening was spent in playing progressive euchre and the prize winners were: high score, Mrs. Blake Moore; lone hands, Mrs. Verne Tapley; low score, Mrs. James Wilson. Mrs. Gordon Pratt won the lucky plate prize. Sincere thanks to Castleton Chlb for a very pleasant evening. The Recreation Committee held a meeting on Tuesday evening, June 28th, at Lakeport Elementary School. Plans were discussed re baseball team and the boys appointed Verne Tap-ley as their coach. Other discussions and plans were made regarding the supervised playground. Mr. and Mrs. R. Joice visited his mother, Mrs. Ernest Joice of Baltimore, who is a patient in Cobourg General Hospital, on Sunday. We wish for her speedy recovery. While there they attended Divine Services in St. John's Anglican Church, Dixie, and also attended the christening Peter's Anglican Church, Erin-dale, of Jane Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gloucher, Port Credit. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Archer, Toronto, spent the week-end at their cottage. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Tyres, Mrs. Thomas Tyres, Peterborough, spent Sunday at the Kome of Mrs. Winnifred Robinson.
