Mr. and Mrs. George Baker spent a few days in Toronto last week visiting their daughters and attended the wedding their son, Fred, on Saturday, September 24th, to Miss Sandra Cooke. * * * * Miss Anne Self and Miss Rose McQuire, Miss Carol McManus of Teachers' College, Peterborough, spent the week-end with their parents. Cpl. and Mrs. J. R. Sloan and children have arrived home from England after three years and have spent the past month with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Bailey, Salem. Cpl. Sloan left last week for Prince Edward Island where he will be stationed. They arrived by jet plane because of the boat strike in England to France and Ireland then to Canada. Corporal Sloan was stationed in England for three years with the R.C.A.F. This was the first time Mrs. Sloan had seen her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Bailey of Portsmouth. Mr. Douglas Thompson of Weston was Sunday a guest of his parents. Rev. Heuer of the Toronto Bible Society was a dinner and supper guest of the Mr. and Mrs. E. Thompson on Sunday.
