THE COLBORNE CHRONICLE, Thursday, October 20th, 1960 Margaret McGuire and Edward Godawa Married at Grafton St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Grafton, decorated with red, white and mauve asters, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Saturday, October 1st, 1960, at 10.00 a.m., when Margaret B. McGuire, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McGuire, Colborne, was united in marriage with Edward F. Godawa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Godawa of Cobourg. Rev. H. A. Black officiated at the ceremony. Miss Mary Anne Moran, Cod-rington, played the wedding music and the soloist was Mr. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a full length gown of white organza over taffeta, fashioned with high scalloped neckline and lily point sleeves. The bodice and skirt were appliqued with seed pearls and sequins in floral designs. Her fingertip veil was held by a tiara of seed pearls and sequins and she carried a bouquet of red roses and fern. Miss Rose Marie McGuire, sister of the bride as maid of honour wore gold peau-de-soie, with gold and brown accessories and ( a nosegay of bronze and white 'mums. Mr. Eugene Karpinski, Oshawa, brother-in-law of the groom acted as best man. Ushering was Mr. William Sutter of Colborne. A reception was held at the Woodmere Lodge, Presqu'ile. To receive, the bride's mother wore a turquoise lace dress with matching accessories and a corsage of pink carnations. The bridegroom's mother assisted in a dress of blue lace with sequins, matching accessories and corsage of white carnations. As the couple left on a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, the bride was wearing a navy linen suit with beige accessories and corsage of pink carnations. Out of town guests attended the wedding from Brooklyn, N.Y., Oshawa, Trenton, Brighton, Cobourg and Port Hope. Prior to her marriage the bride was honoured with three miscellaneous showers. On September 9th, Misses Karen Island and Barbara Spencer entertained at the home Of the bride. Misses Beverly and Lynda Tutty were co-hostesses at their home on September 21, and Mrs. Wm. Sutter entertained at her home on September 27th. Salem Recreaton Club The Salem Recreation Club held its first meeting of the season on Thursday last at the home of Mrs. John Fenaughty with sixteen members in attendance. Two new members were welcomed into the club, Mrs. Glenn Peacock and Mrs. Pat-chett who is the teacher in the Salem School. The President, Mrs. Jack Smith, conducted the meeting and the minutes of the June meeting were read by Mrs. John Davis. Plans were made to hold an auction sale at the November meeting. It was decided that it would not be necessary to appoint a nominating committee to arrange a slate of officers for next year as all the present officers would continue in office for another year with the exception of Mrs. Lawrence Mc-Pherson whose duties as lunch convener will be taken over by Mrs. Ken Mills. Mrs. McPherson has consented to act as press convener. Following the business session, the programme was taken over by Marie Mills and Doris Simpson. The first item was a round of the new TV quiz game of Charge Account. Then followed several parlour games, some of which provided hilarious entertainment. Doris Simpson gave a reading of a beautiful poem on "October". Lovely refreshments were served by Mrs. Fenaughty, assisted by a lunch committee. The November meeting will take place on the first Thursday of November at the home of Mrs. Ralph Barnes. THIS WEEK!
